Simple Present Tense


We use the simple present tense, when we talk about habits, schedules, general facts
and truths. Or when it happens regularly.

POSITI Subject + verb Example: I + turn off + the light

Remember: The spelling for the verb in the third person differs
dependingonthe ending of that verb…Inthegeneral, in the third person we add S to the
verb: Learn= Learns -work= works

• For verbs that end in -O, -CH, -SH, -SS, -X, or -Z we add -ES in
the third person. Examples: She washes her hands every 30
minutes.
-Wash = washes- go = goes -fix = fixes
• For the verbs that end in a vowel + Y, we
just add S. Example: Mary enjoys
recycling paper.
-Enjoy = enjoys -Play = Plays
• For verbs that end in a consonant + Y, we remove the Y
and add IES. Example: He studies English every

The past simple shows us that an action was in the past. Note that the simple past form is
the same for all subjects.

What are you doing to protect the planet?

Taking care not to throw garbage on the street or in any other place other than the bins, select the
garbage, recycle, not waste water, not burn garbage, I have planted some trees, reused the plastic
bags, take a basket to the market to avoid plastic bags as much as possible, do not throw garbage
into rivers, clean the garden by hand, reduce poisons, take care of the garden, make my neighbors
aware of taking care of natural resources, not buying disposable plates or cutlery.
