This rectangular shawl was designed using basic stitches, straight construction, incorporating
the basic front cable stitch; in the hopes that the shawl would appeal to an adventurous
beginner lace knitter, and at the same time, not too boring for those who are more advanced.
Materials: Lace/Fingering Weight yarn: 650-670 yards / 5.5 oz, 155 grams
Needles: US#5
Stitch-Markers
Cable Needle (CN)
Gauge: Not necessary as this is not a fitted garment. The gauge will depend on your choice
of needle & yarn. Dimensions of shawl using US#5 needles and lace weight yarn after
blocking: 65” x 21”. Lace can be made longer by adding repeats of Chart A.

There are a total of 6-knitted stitches not shown on the charts. These are three (3)
stitches before beginning Chart A panel and three (3) stitches after (the same for Chart B
and Chart C). Always knitted on every row throughout the whole shawl.
Body of Shawl
Cast-On: 101 stitches - using your favorite provisional cast-on method. You will be using the
provisional cast-on stitches to make the second edge of the shawl.
Once first edge has been finished, work on the stitches of your provisional cast-on to finish
the 2nd edge of the shawl.
Block shawl’s main body making sure to give it the slight flare on the edge of the shawl where
the Transition begins – see pictures below:
