PHILIT - MODULE 3 ACTIVITIES

D1: Applying UN-SDG #1: No Poverty to the Issue raised in the Plays
If you are to write a play for 21st-century literature, will you still tackle poverty for the play to
have a social significance? Why or why not? Share your answer to this discussion in a
paragraph of at least five sentences.
If I were to write a play for 21st century literature, I would still choose to tackle the topic
on poverty. A lot of people know that poverty is still rampant and severe especially in the
Philippines, but still, a lot of people choose to ignore it because they are not the ones affected
by it. Including the topic on poverty as a subject on a play would be a great way for people to
come to their senses that poor people still exists and that they need help. Through this, the
audience will see with their own eyes, even if it just a portrayal in a stage, of what is it like to live
in the streets, not having food to eat and sometimes the things that the poor people need to do
in order for them to survive. Poverty is a serious matter and every people should acknowledge it
to be able to create a social change. Through literature, like plays, educating people about this
topic can be achieved.
