 Proficiently delivers various speeches

Objectives:
At the end of the module, the learner is expected to proficiently deliver various speeches by:
1. using principles of effective speech delivery focusing on articulation, modulation, stage
presence, facial expressions, gestures, movements and rapport with the audience.

TIME LEARNING TASKS


 Wake up on time, eat a healthy breakfast, and set your goals for another productive
day ahead.
7:00 – 8:00
 Start your day with a positive mindset and a sound body by doing some physical
exercises with your family members.
Note: For the learner, use the prescribed answer sheet or a separate paper for all the given exercises/activities.
Writing anything on the module is strictly prohibited. Thank you .
Preliminaries/Introduction (What I need to know)
 Before starting the lesson, think of the times that you speak before an audience.
Probably, you really had a hard time to stand on stage or in front of your audience
especially on your first time. This module will help you realize the rigors of crafting
one’s speech. You will also learn here the tips on how to effectively deliver a speech.
Pre-assessment (What I know)
 Proceed to the Self-Audit Exercise on page 8 of your module. Copy the diagram on
your answer sheet and as instructed, tick the column that determines how often you
practice what the statements say. Remember to do this as objectively as possible
since there are no wrong answers.
 After accomplishing the Self-Audit Exercise, read the introduction of Lesson 2 on
pages 9-10 of your module.
PROCEDURES
1. Review/Motivations (What’s In)
 Search and watch in YouTube the speech “Outsmart; Outlast” of Darren Tay Wen
Jei, the first place in 2016 World Champion of Public Speaking. After watching
describe how the speaker delivers his speech. Write your answer on your answer
sheet.
 Then, answer the activity on page 10 of your module. Write your answers on your
answer sheet.
2. Initial Activity/Discovery (What’s New)
 Read and understand the types of speech according to purpose on page 11. It is
important to identify your purpose when you deliver your speech.

3. Discussion of the Topic (What is it)


 Read and understand the features of effective speech delivery on pages 11-15 of your
module. In order for you to be a good speaker, you have to remember and apply the
tips on effective speech delivery.

4. Enrichment Activities (What’s More)


 It is important that you should understand the different types of speech according
to delivery. Read and understand pages 15-18 of your module.

5. Generalization (What I Have Learned)


 To assess your understanding and learning of the topic, accomplish the activity on

page 19 of your module.

6. Application (What I Can Do)
 Answer the activity on pages 19-20 of your module.
Note: Write your answers on your answer sheet.

7. Assessment (Assessment)
 Prepare a 3-5 minute video of your speech presentation using the speech that you
have prepared in your Module 3 and send it in your respective Group Chat. Make
sure that you memorize your speech and practice a lot before performing your final

speech delivery. Remember to apply the tips on effective speech delivery in your
performance.
Note: Your speech presentation shall be evaluated using the given rubric, thus it shall
guide you in your expected output.
8. Additional Activity
 To continuously hone your speech delivery skills, you may check the websites
indicated in your module on page 22.
Mode of Delivery
 Your parent/guardian shall return the finished modules, answer sheets, or outputs to your
adviser on the scheduled day and time.
