This module was collaboratively designed, developed, and reviewed by educators from
public institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator, in helping the learners meet the
standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and
economic constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their needs and
circumstances.
In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the body of the

As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module. You
also need to keep track of the learners’ progress while allowing them to manage their own
learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage the learners as they do the tasks
included in the module.

guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be enabled to
process the contents of the learning resource while being an active learner.

a topic using varied sources. It will also help you analyze the different types of
information available at your home.
At the end of this module, you are expected to:
• recognize the different sources of information;
• use varied sources to identify specific topics or idea; and
• get information from television or radio.

The Internet allows you to access most types of information on the Internet through
a browser. One of the main features of the Internet is the ability to quickly link to other
related information. It contains information beyond plain text, including sounds, images, and
video.

Directions: Read the excerpts carefully and write the topic that is present in each of the
excerpts from different online articles. The answer to the first excerpt is

Authorities are considering proposals to allow limited face-to-face classes in low
risk areas. But for the most part, classrooms will remain empty due to safety
concerns. Instead of physical classes, the Department of Education will implement
distance or remote learning. This method delivers lessons through various ways,
including online, television, radio, and printed materials.
Colleges and universities are also shifting to distance learning, affecting over
three million higher education students.

Months after the first COVID-19 case in the country, the threat of the pandemic
still persists. As most of the country is now under general community quarantine
3. and more establishments slowly resume operations, some people may start to be
more lenient with the necessary precautions. But nobody should be any less
vigilant in complying with health guidelines.
Most people already have their disinfecting routine down pat, which involves
taking off the mask and disposing of it properly, leaving shoes by the door,
thoroughly washing their hands, and disinfecting whatever was brought inside the
house. It’s easy enough to remember doing all these steps, but not everyone
disinfects as well as they should. Some people tend to gloss over everyday items
that should be cleaned as well.
Depression is a common illness worldwide, with more than 264 million people

affected. Depression is different from usual mood fluctuations and short-lived
emotional responses to challenges in everyday life. Especially when long-lasting
and with moderate or severe intensity, depression may become a serious health
condition. It can cause the affected person to suffer greatly and function poorly at
work, at school and in the family. At its worst, depression can lead to suicide. Close
to 800,000 people die due to suicide every year. Suicide is the second leading
cause of death in 15-29-year-olds.
