Objectives for the week: Building communication and literacy skills as they read and listen to information about
deserts,desert animals and plants.
Refocus Standards: Grammar topics ( Comparative and superlative adjectives, Simple past was/were,regular and irregular
verbs, all,many, a few,a lot/lots –why/because)
Essential Questions: CCQ on the same topic

Focus on the picture- Thermometer (Measures temperature in
Degree )
Capital C for Celsius
Listen to dialogues and record the temperature
What’s the temperature? Is it hot/cool/cold/warm
3. Talk
Read the instructions and ask questions .(work in pair/padlet)
Why does a camel have? ….. a) long neck (b) wide round feet (c) long
eyelashes (d) hump (e) long legs (f) thick lips
4. Read
Read about two other animals live in desert.
Note style- compare
Check that learners understand how big the given measurements
are. (look at them on the ruler)
After they’re done reading- Draw a Venn diagram (compare and
contrast both animals)
What information they should include in the common area of the
diagram.
Both: sleep underground during day
Do not drink water, get enough moisture from their food
5. Write
Ask learners to choose one of the animals and answer the
questions using the information in Activity 4
Model to learners how to turn notes back into full sentences. Eg:
re-insert name of animal or a pronoun. Include capital letter and
full stop. Point out the use of commas when making a list.
Read questions and answer them.
Continue with Activity book pg: 30-31
