Cheer-dance Competition

GUIDELINES & MECHANICS

BASIC INFORMATION

1. The competition will be held on September 29, 2019, 8:00 am at NDC TAGUM
FOUNDATION, INC. at gymnasium.
2. There will be NO REGISTRATION FEE.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. The contest is exclusive for NDC TAGUM FOUNDATION, INC. students only.
2. Participants may come by Unit #.
3. Each team should be composed of a minimum of twenty(20) and a maximum of
thirty(30) members include the props and back up dancers.

MUSIC/DANCE ROUTINES/TIME MATTERS/COSTUMES/PROPS

1. Participating teams are given the same music and free-hand for their choice of
costumes.
2. The use of drums and other instruments are allowed.
3. Dance routines are freestyle. It could include hip hop, modern, ethnic and etc ……
4. The performance must at least three(3) minutes to five(5) minutes include the
entrance and exit.
5. The committee has prepared official timer to take note of time consumed by each
group, however, for quality, each team can assign one representative to be with the
timer assigned by the committee and eye witness the process of “time keeping”
6. A one-minute per-set will be given each team. After such the emcee will signal “go”
and the timer starts.
7. Costume, props, apparel and accessories are free of choice but MUST be properly
secured.

STUNTS/ACROBATS/LIFTINGS

1. Stunts and lifting are encouraged


2. Tossing is strictly prohibited.
3. 3rd degree lifting are not allowed. (Lifting is limited to second level only.)

CHEERS AND YELL

1. Yells and cheers must always promote the team they present.
2. Loudness and Clearness of the words is encouraged.
3. Profanity and other inappropriate language are strictly prohibited.
4. Composed of two(2) minutes.
INTERRUPTION OF PERFORMANCE

1. In the event performance is interrupted because of technical reasons caused by the


event equipment, facilities, etc. the team shall be given the option to either resume the
performance from where it stopped or repeat their entire performance.
2. In the event performance is interrupted because of failure of team’s own equipment
supplies, tools, props, acts or any of the same kind, the team either continues the
performance or not.
3. In the event of injury, the team will be given the authority to decide whether to
continue the performance or not.
4. The committee shall not be responsible for any accident that could happen during
the performance.

PENALTIES/POINT DEDUCTION

1. Failure to follow the GENERAL GUIDELINES is subject to disqualified.


2. Failure to follow mechanics on STUNTS/ACROBATS/LIFTINGS is subject to an 8-point
deduction on the final score.
3. A deficit or excess of one(1) minute allotted time of performance is subject to a 2-
point deduction on the final score.
4. Any deficit or excess on the allotted number of participants is subject to a 5-point
deduction on the final score.
5. Point deduction will be done by the powerhouse.

TECHNICAL RULES

1. Three to five judges will score the whole performance.


2. Each judge is responsible for scoring all the categories of the routine.
3. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

Each presentation will be judged according the following to wit:

 Choreography/Execution - 40%
- Formation
- Variation
- Difficulty

 Mastery - 20%
- Coordination
- Rhythm
- Timing/Synchronization
- Precision

 Costume and Props - 15%


- Blending of colors
- Design
- Creativity

 Cheers and Yells - 15%


- Loudness and Clearness of the voice
- Content

 Originality - 5%
 Over-all Impact - 5%
