DAY 1

C – Today was the first day of my Practicing Clinical Instructor duty and I handled
the block 3NC under the supervision of Mrs. Joie Oliveros. My groupmates were
also present during my discussion in the said class

E – It was a scary experience because it is my first-time teaching nursing to

lower years, and I was extremely nervous. It has been a long time since I have
spoken in front of many people whom I didn’t know personally. My heart was
beating fast and have cold sweats. My hand was shaking the entire time and I
was just trying my best to make sure that my voice was not shaky during my
processing. I was able to finish the lesson quickly because I was anxious the
entire time. The students were very respectful and participative and that made
me feel a little bit relieved.

R – I have realized that being a clinical instructor is not easy. It was difficult to
keep the class interested in the topic and I was really making efforts to make the
lesson lively so that they will not get bored. Being in a virtual classroom makes it
more challenging because most of the students turn off their cameras and you
wouldn’t be able to see their reactions.

A – Next time I will make sure to attend synchronous classes, because during my
discussion, 15 people or less attended the session out of 29 students. I will now
also start to turn on my camera during discussion unless we are experiencing
connectivity problems and participate in the discussion

E – I believe that I did well in this rotation because I know that I studied the
lesson and tried my best to explain the topics to the students thoroughly. But
based on my experience, if I will be given the chance to become a clinical
instructor, I would respectfully decline it because I have realized that teaching is
not for me.

DAY 2

C – On the second day of my Practicing Clinical Instructor, I was assigned to

discuss in 3ND. Still under the supervision of Mrs. Oliveros together with my
groupmates. It was a little disappointing though because only 8 students
attended the class.

E – On this day, I was a bit more confident in speaking in front of the students
and I really tried my best for this class to have a better outcome than the
previous day. I was less nervous and less jittery. This class was also a little bit
more participative, I asked them a couple of simple questions and they were able
to answer. I also gained a little bit more confidence since I have more examples
and I had an actual run through of the lesson the day before.

R - I was sad for the clinical instructors who really take their time to prepare for
their classes just to end up with very few students attending the class. It was
disappointing yet I am also relieved that there are only few people during my
class because that means I will only need to interact with less people. However,
for the CIs who made teaching their profession it is extremely saddening.

A - As a student nurse, the next time I will be reporting, or given the chance,
teach again, I will make sure that I am 100% confident and prepares to lesson
my anxieties during the actual lesson.

E – This time, I believe that I improved a lot and that I was able to relay the
knowledge and information to my students a lot better.
