CERAE
For the first day of virtual duty for the Community Health Nursing
CONTEXT rotation, we had our pre-conference, where our clinical instructor
introduced us to the activities for the week. Prior to that, we had a
short kamustahan with our clinical instructor. Our CI gave us
instructions concerning the minor and major requirements.

During the first day of meeting, it was really hard for me to wake up
EXPERIENCE since I’ve been waking up around noon time, and it was quite an
adjustment for me to wake up early for two consecutive days. I
forced myself to get up from bed and I’m glad I made it to class.
Our clinical instructor oriented us about our flow of activities for this
week and the requirements that needed to be accomplished.

It’s really sad to think that we’re having our CHN rotation virtually
REFLECTION instead of being in an actual community setting to interact with
individuals, families and groups within the area where we help and
identify issues that are affecting the residents. The pandemic really
ruined everything. Reminiscing on the good old days, this course
meant a lot to me both professionally and personally.

Our major requirement for this week is think of a health education

ACTION program that I would want to initiate in relation to health issues
faced by individuals. When I thought about how I could help solve
the problems faced by my chosen environment, I had the chance to
brainstorm a program flow to Resistance/ Hesitancy to COVID-19
Vaccine since I have relationships with people who has been
smoking at an early age and some up until today.
The objectives for the first day virtual duty is met. Our CI really took
EVALUATION time to orient us. She effectively lays out clear expectations and
able to answer our queries. Overall, our virtual duty was a success!
WEEK 16 DAY 2

1. Explain health education is a vital tool in public health nursing.
2. Describethe goals and behavioral objectives of health education within the
community setting.
3. Identify
appropriate places and promotions for a specific social marketing
campaign and promotion.
4. Create awareness of the health issue, share information and communication to
the selected group or community.

CERAE
Our last day of virtual duty was allotted for the presentation and
CONTEXT processing of the group’s chosen topic for health education. I wastn
able to presented my topic entitled
“Resistance/ Hesitancy to COVID-19 Vaccine” because I have duty
in NMMC
I wasn’t able to attend the meeting because I have operating room
EXPERIENCE hospital exposure in Northern Mindanao Medical Center
As I was preparing for my chosen topic, one thing I realized is how
REFLECTION a lot of people are believing in false myths about the vaccine and
this could backfire to us in the future if not all of us will get
vaccinated.

In the process of health education, evaluation is an integral part of

ACTION any teaching and it is important to continually assess how well the
audience are
understanding the information. With that, I would explain to my
audience, avoiding medical jargon. I assess their understanding by
asking them to explain the concept in their own words. Next, I
would clarify anything they do not understand and reassess their
understanding. Then, if some do not understand, I find a new way
to explain the concept. Lastly, I repeat the process of explaining
and assessing for understanding until the participants are able to
accurately state their understanding.

With the 2 days of virtual duty, it was really a productive one. We

EVALUATION share different topics and communicate well with our clinical
instructor for us to learn something in the process. I’m always
grateful for another opportunity to experience this rotation and I’m
looking forward to experience it back again in the actual setting or
in school for face-to-face and apply everything I have learned in my
practice.
