DAY 1
CERAE
CONTEXT On our day one of our CHN duty, first we prepared
everything before going to the duty area in indahag,
once we arrived we were assigned different tasks, I
was assigned in taking vital signs for those who come
into the Barangay health center, while also helping in
other activities like registration and taking other vitals
signs, my other group mates were also assigned to a
different task and reported to our Clinical instructor if
we were to do any vaccination injection to the
residents of Indahag.
EXPERIENCE The first day of CHN exposure was not bad at all
as we were familiar with the area since we had our
NSTP Indahag experience before in senior high
school and also the very recent CHN duty the
previous rotations, now we had closely interacted
with the residents and took their vitals and
personal information, unlike back then, the whole
staff was friendly and really welcoming, it was
overall a satisfying and rewarding experience
being able to help people in the community.
REFLECTION Upon finishing up the duty on that day, I thought
that it is really essential to understand the whole
community, understanding the community helps in
identifying problems that arise and be able to
formulate solutions accordingly, we had identified
one topic to discuss on the next meeting which is
about tuberculosis
ACTION When we finished our duty, I noticed that I still need
practice regarding on how I perform my duties, I
felt it needed to be more streamlined and be more
efficient, to do that I need to study diligently on the
core concepts of the activities I was assigned on so
on the next duty, I would be able to understand
better
EVALUATION After the end of our duty it made me more motivated
to learn in order to help the community all around
us, and as a student nurse it is important to learn
more in order to serve the community to the fullest in
the future as a practicing clinic

CERAE

CONTEXT On the second day of our CHN duty experience this

was the day that we discussed about tuberculosis
in the community, it was a little bit more hectic than
the first day since it was the day of community
program for the barangay, we decided to host the
program and teach about tuberculosis prevention,
it was also vaccination day, and not only that we
also did other duties like nebulizing, etc. with the
day ending eating snacks together with the health
care center staff.

EXPERIENCE The second day of CHN exposure was not too bad
because we were already familiar with the area
from our previous CHN shift indahag experience,
and because the staff was much more welcoming
and friendly this time around. Overall, it was a
satisfying and rewarding experience to be able to
assist local residents.
REFLECTION After completing my work for the day, I realized how
important it is to comprehend the entire community
because doing so enables one to see issues as they
arise and to develop solutions accordingly.
ACTION After our assignment was complete, I realized that
I still needed to improve how I carried out my
responsibilities. I felt that they needed to be more
organized and efficient, and in order to do that, I
had to carefully study the fundamental ideas
behind the tasks I was given.
EVALUATION After our duty was over, it inspired me to learn more
so that I could better serve the people in the area. As
a student nurse, I must continue to learn in order to
provide the best possible care for the public in the
future when I work in a clinic.

Article Title: Tuberculosis (TB): Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Summary:

Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection that primarily affects the lungs, but can also
affect other parts of the body, such as the brain and spine. It is caused by
Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a bacteria that spreads from person to person through the
air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Symptoms of TB include coughing that
lasts for more than three weeks, chest pain, coughing up blood, weakness or fatigue,
weight loss, and fever.

Treatment for TB usually involves a combination of antibiotics taken over a period of

several months. It is important to complete the entire course of antibiotics, even if
symptoms improve, in order to fully eliminate the bacteria and prevent the development
of drug-resistant strains.

Reflection:

Reading about tuberculosis brought back memories of my childhood of our manong who
had TB and had to isolate himself from the rest of us and I also remember hearing stories
of people in my community who were diagnosed with TB and how they were isolated
from their families and friends. It was a scary disease that seemed to strike without
warning, and many people believed that it was a death sentence.

Learning more about TB and its causes, symptoms, and treatment has helped me
understand the disease better. I now know that TB is curable with the right treatment and
that early diagnosis is key to preventing the spread of the disease. It is also important to
recognize the impact of poverty and inadequate healthcare on the spread of TB in many
parts of the world.
