a review first of what we have discussed last time.
B. Establishing a purpose
for the lesson This time we will watch a short video that will help
you to fully understand our topic for today.
Is that clear?

the new lesson
So based on the video, what do you think is our
lesson for today? Or do you have any idea? Teacher it’s all about properties of light.
That’s correct!
Correct!
As light travels in a straight line, it sometimes
bounces back into the direction of the source and we
call this as reflection. Moreover, water, windows,
shiny metal, and mirrors are just some of the many
objects that reflect light.
Correct!
What do you think will happen when you throw the
ball at the wall at an angle? The ball will bounce away from the board at the
same angle but in the opposite direction.
Excellent!
Light travels in the same manner. The way light
bounces back are very much similar to the way a
ball bounces back on a hard smooth surface. When
you throw a ball straight down, it will bounce
straight back at you. When you throw a ball at an
angle, it will bounce off at the same angle away
from you. Which simply means that light reflects
the same way as a mirror. Light bounces off at the
same angle that it struck the mirror.
Is that clear?
Yes teacher!
Correct!
This appearance shows that light is bent as it passes
from air to the glass of water. Light bends as it
passes from some objects when viewed at an angle.
The light travels slower in the water and the glass
than in the air. As the light changes speed, it changes
direction resulting in what appears to be the bending
of light. This bending of light is called refraction.
At this juncture, let’s have a group activity. (Learners will follow the teacher’s

How does it feel?

3. We felt like a blind because we can’t
see anything.
That’s right!
Indeed, that light is responsible for all life where it
allows us to see the surrounding world by
distinguishing details, individual colors, movement,
and even brightness. On the other hand, it has a very
big impact on a human in terms of the physiology
and psyche. It has also a vital function in relation to
environment and biological processes that occur in
our body.
Alright!
Now, give yourselves a rain clap. (The learners will follow the teacher’s instruction)
H. Making generalizations
and abstractions about the Grade 4, what have you learned today? We learned about the properties of light.

Can you give the properties light? Ma’am the properties of light are reflection and
refraction.
Very Good!
Class do you have any questions or clarification? (Non – verbatim but the teacher already knows
the answer of the learners)
