ELEMENTS
An element is a pure
substance. It cannot be broken down
into other types of substances. Each
element is made up just one type of
atom.
Elements consist of same type
of atom or molecule. Elements are
subdivided into 2, the metal group and
the non-metal group. Example of metal
group elements are Aluminum,
Copper, Silver, Gold, Lithium, and etc.
while the example of non-metal
element is Nitrogen, Oxygen, Helium,
Argon, etc. etc. Elements are expressed
as symbols.
The symbol of an element is
consisting of either a one capital letter
or one capital letter and one small
letter.

COMPOUNDS
A compound is a unique
substance that consists of two or more
elements combined in fixed
proportions. For example, one atom of
sodium (Na) combines to one atom of
chlorine (Cl) to form one molecule of
