Given a video to watch, the grade 6 pupils should be able to:


1. identify the ways to control noise pollution;
2. create a complete web map of ways to control noise pollution ; and
3. enjoy accomplishing the activities with groupmates.

What is the potential source of noise
pollution? Everything around us can make noise,
teacher.
What can be the cause of a noisy
environment to the health of its people? It can be dangerous, that it can give us health
problems, teacher.
And what health problems that we can
get from noise pollution? Noise pollution has been linked to health
problems like hearing loss, high blood
pressure, fatigue, increased stress, and
sleeplessness.
Exactly! Now how can we control or
prevent noise pollution? Can you give
me one? We should turn off electronic gadgets when

What should we do if there are large
noisy machines and heavy equipment? We should avoid them, teacher.

What are the practices which produce


much noise that should be avoided? It has been observed that certain persons
blow horns of their vehicles unnecessarily, or
remove silencers of the exhaust pipes of
vehicles.

Where are the certain areas that certain


high noise is hard to prevent? Airports and some factories and construction
sites.
What should you do in places or in
occasions where noise cannot be
controlled or reduced? We need to use personal protection, teacher.

What are the personal protections that


we can use? We can wear headphones to block out
dangerous noise levels.

What else? We can cover our ears or wear


earplugs/headphones when near these noisy
places.
And why does Trees, hedges, and other
vegetation along residential areas and
along roads is important? It is a good way to reduce noise pollution
because they absorb sound, teacher.

So, what should we do then? We should help to maintain plants around


our home, teacher.
