INSTRUCTION:
Answer ALL questions.

As a lighting designer, you are required to design a general lighting system schema for
general offices as shows in Figure 1 (Appendix 1). Designs should be in accordance with
Panduan Teknik JKR standards. The room reflectance factor is 0.7 (ceiling), 0.5 (wall). The
mounting height of the luminaire to the working plane is 3 m. Assume maintenance factor is
0.8.

a. Choose the lamp & luminaire that suitable for the office lighting.
b. Describe the properties of lamp that have chosen.
c. Estimate number of luminaires.
d. Propose a luminaire layout and then sketch its position on the layout plan as shown in
Figure 1.
e. Estimate the light power density and energy consumption of the lamp if used within 8
hours a day.
f. Calculate the electricity usage cost in 30 days. (Refer Appendix 2).
