Topic: Case Study: An Effective Communications Management Plan Devised To

Save People from the Clutches of Cancer

Question # 01 - What communication challenges did the PAU project team

anticipate?

PAU project team anticipated various potential sources of communication challenges,

which included the following:

• Slackness of the rural farming community

• Inadequate information from the chemical manufacturers on chemical based fertilizer

utilization

• Restricted or slight access of the target audience to the communication media

Question # 02 - How did the project team prepare to meet the communication

challenges?

The Project team devised a communication management plan for the target audience

that included both internal and external stakeholders. The key internal stakeholders

included the PAU project team and project sponsor PAU administration and external

stakeholders included the target farming community. The interest group has been made

aware about the handling, use and disposal of synthetic chemical used in farming,

training session has been delivered on use of organic fertilizers and raising their

motivational level to be a part of change instead of resisters.

Question # 03 - Assuming the number of stakeholders in the communication loop

to be 1,000, how many communication channels existed among those

stakeholders?

The communications complexity can be determined by identifying the total number of

communication channels that exist among the stakeholders utilizing a formula.

Total number of communication channels among ‘N’ stakeholders = N (N – 1)/2

=1000 *(1000-1)/2 = 499,500 channels existed among stakeholders.

Question # 04 - Describe the communication channels used by the PAU project

team?

The four correspondence channels that the PAU project team utilized was composed

correspondence, internet, TV/radio, and up close and personal meetings. The written

communication included flyers, public statements sent to TV/radio/daily papers/sites,

and printed data sent to farmers through the postal administration. The internet included

the PAU site, Social Media, and a task blog for partner joint effort. Television included

commercials and face to face included awareness meetings and trainings.

Question # 05 - What lessons did you learn from this case?

Without a proper and effective communication management plan you can’t deliver the

message of change and expect the desired results on board. For that all the

stakeholders and interested groups must bring on to same page and communication

must be through different channels for to be effective so that the delivered change or

message must reach to all stakeholders and interested groups in project.
