Proposed Activity in Oral Communication in Context

I. Rationale
Oral Communication in Context is a core subject for Grade 11 students where its
main goal is to develop students’ communication skills, in both listening and speaking,
in various communicative situations. As its culminating performance standard, the
subject requires students to proficiently deliver various speeches using the different
principles of speech delivery.
In view of the foregoing, Grade 11 students from the different academic strands
will be tasked to present an informative speech about topics of their interests. It is
hoped that through this culminating performance, students are enabled to demonstrate
effective speech styles and communicative strategies. As well, students are enabled to
successfully apply the different principles of speech delivery.
In light of the current teaching-learning set up, this culminating performance task
will be presented through video recording.
II. Objective
At the end of this activity, students are expected to:
1. effectively demonstrate the different principles of speech delivery;
2. effectively showcase the appropriate speech styles and communicative strategies;
and
3. wholeheartedly appreciate the opportunity to transfer information having acquired
the right communication skills.
