 Introduction:

The project we were given to do involved using the digits 1 to 9 and just the
BIDMAS mathematical operations to aim for a list of 25 consecutive numbers.
The rules were quite simple.
Every digit had to be used exactly once in attaining a given number.
Only the operations of BIDMAS were allowed in getting the number.
For example, to get the number 91, we could use the following method.
( 1+2 )3−( 4 ×5 ) + ( 8 × 7 ×9 ) ÷ 6=¿( 3 )3−22+504 ÷6=¿27−20+84=¿111−20=¿91

Here, we used all the digits 1 – 9 once and only once, and just the operations
of BIDMAS to get 91.
Our project involved forming a team of 4 students to complete a given list of
100 consecutive numbers using the method outlined above. Each member of
the group was to do a separate 25 consecutive numbers. This ensured that
every student in the class did a separate list of 25 numbers by themselves.

Aims:
The aims of the project were to improve our familiarity with the operations of
BIDMAS, to improve our comfortability with multiplication, division, addition,
and subtraction, and to improve our numerical reasoning and logical thinking
skills.
The aims were achieved in a fun, challenging way. Some techniques were
developed to help us out. As we worked through our number list, we were able
to devise new strategies to help us in achieving our goals.
Limiting our goals to 25 consecutive numbers helped us see how changing a
single or simple operation could vastly change our answer.
 Results:
The number set that I was tasked with completing was the numbers 100 – 124

Conclusion:
By doing this project, I feel that I have improved my skills in a number of areas,
both Mathematically, Academically, and Socially. I learned to work as part of a
group, all working towards a common goal.
I also improved my ability in the operations of BIDMAS and in my mental
arithmetic. I learned how to think logically and critically, working within
constraints and having to change my plans and approaches when I hit a
problem. I enjoyed doing this project.
