Course Description
This is a three-week course designed to increase your knowledge on Mediation and simple yoga
techniques and the benefits it has on your mind, body, and soul. It is designed for the beginner to learn
different methods of meditation to benefit their quality of life. Each of the three sessions will provide
information and education on a different method of meditation each week with guest instructors to lead
meditation sessions.
Course Goals
Students who complete this course successfully will be able to:
Understand the history, principles, and benefits behind meditation.
Learn breathing exercises to block distractions
Perform basic meditation practices.
Learn how to use meditation at work to manage stressful situations
Understand how meditation a person’s mental habits
Week 1:
We will learn a little bit about meditation and the benefits it has on our mind, body, and spirit. We will
then learn about Mindfulness meditation and practice how you do this. Teaching us to let go of
negativity, slow racing thoughts, and calm the mind and the body.
Week 2:
We will discuss last weeks class and move onto learning about Body Scan Meditation. Learning how to
utilize this type of meditation to reduce stress and body tension.
Week 3:
We will learn about Love-Kindness meditation and how it benefits our spirit. We will close out the class
with discussions on all three classes and make sure all questions are answered.
