ATS MCCB

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION
ATS OPERATION OVERVIEW

The ATS contain one utility main breaker (normal) and one generator
breaker (emergency). A standard automatic transfer switch (ATS) has only
three major functions: Sensing normal source availability, sensing emergency
source availability, and transferring power to the most desirable source at the
appropriate time.

On sensing loss of the normal source, the ATS issues a signal to start an
on-site generator set. On sensing availability of the emergency source, the
transfer switch will open the normal breaker and then close the emergency
breaker, connecting power to the alternate source. On return of the normal
source, the emergency breaker open, the normal breaker close and generator
set start for cool down.

AUTOMATIC OPERATION

A. Mode selector switch is in the "AUTO" position.

B. (Normal) Utility main breaker is close.
C. (Emergency) Generator breaker is open.

LOSS OF NORMAL SOURCE:

1. Sensing relay de-energize and signaling the generator set to start.

2. Time delay (TD5) sensing emergency source to open the normal breaker.
(3 sec.) default time delay.
3. Time delay (TD4) for emergency breaker to close. (3 sec.) default time
delay.
NORMAL SOURCE RETURN:

4. Protective relay (OV/UV) energize and signaling the generator set to cool
down.
5. Sensing relay give signal to genset for cool down
6. Time delay (TD1) for emergency breaker open. (5 sec.) default time
delay.
7. Time delay (TD2) for normal breaker close. (3 sec.) default time delay
8. Time delay (TD3) for generator set cool down. (2 mins.) default time
delay.

MANUAL OPERATION (ELECTRICALLY OPERATED)

• Place the mode selector switch in the "OFF / MANUAL" position.

• After selecting the "OFF / MANUAL" position, push the green button for
"Normal" power supply or red button for "Emergency" or generator
supply.

MANUAL OPERATION (MECHANICALLY OPERATED)

• Place the mode selector switch in the "OFF / MANUAL" position.

• Open the front door of the panel, then push the shaft handle (follow the
arrow sign located at the top side of the ATS metal clad).

NOTE: DO NOT DISMANTLE ANY PARTS OR LINKAGES ATTACHED TO THE

CIRCUIT BREAKER, in order to operate the circuit breaker (MCCB) manually.
This factory adjusted and should NOT be disturb. Any IMPROPER handling of
this LINKAGES may damage the circuit breaker permanently.

MANUAL TEST OPERATION

• Place the mode selector switch in the "MANUAL / TEST" position.

• This will act as a switch to run the generator (for exercising) but will not
transfer power to the circuit breaker.
