1st University Wide Culture and the Arts Virtual Competition


THEME: “Celebrating Culture and the Arts Amidst Covid-19 Pandemic”

GENERAL HOUSE RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Each contest category is open to all bona fide PRMSU UNDERGRADUATE


STUDENT (not more than 26 years). Graduate students of degree programs or
those taking post baccalaureate studies are disqualified from the contest.
(COR must be submitted by the CADO Campus/College Coordinator to the
CADO).
2. Contestants are required to adhere to the guidelines and rules of the contest as
provided.
3. The CADO shall see to it that all guidelines, rules, and regulations shall be
presented to all Campus Coordinator and College Coordinators.
4. The judges will select the winners for each event.
5. The winners for each event shall be declared/announced immediately right after
each contest via FB Live. Student winners shall receive a certificate of recognition
and other incentives approved by the Administration. Winning Coaches shall
receive Certificates of Recognition. All non-winners (Students & Coaches) will
receive certificate of participation.
6. All contestants must not wear any mark that will identify the Campus/College
where they are from during the actual recording of the entry performance for the
competition.
7. All manuscripts, winning pieces, materials, and other proceedings shall be
collected and filed at the CADO for reference.
8. The decision of the Board of Judges is final. Each Event has 3 Outside Judges
Respectively.
9. Violation of any of the rules and regulations shall be subjected to disqualification
in the contest.
10. No protest or complaint shall be entertained as judgment is done with finality.
Only queries and suggestions shall be entertained for future competitions.
11. The CADO shall be the official office tasked to transmit communications and
documents to avoid miscommunications and inattention to transactions and
other business.
12. The Campus Coordinator/College Coordinator shall certify the authenticity of all
entries and all videos are newly created/recorded intended for the 1st PRMSU
University Wide Culture and the Arts Virtual Competition.

MUSICAL
Contest Mechanics, Rules, and Criteria for Judging

1. Vocal Solo – Kundiman (male and female)

Mechanics and Rules of the Contest:

1. The song shall be one straight Kundiman Song.


2. Transposition is NOT allowed.
3. The accompaniment allowed is piano and 88 keys keyboard in
piano setting only or minus one.
4. Delivery should not be more than seven (7) minutes.
5. The contestant must wear an appropriate costume.
6. The performer shall mention the title of the song and start the
performance with no cut.
7. No editing is allowed (RAW VIDEO); no vocal enhancing
equipment (i.e. the use of V9).
8. Each participant must adhere to the technical guidelines
mentioned below:
a. The video must capture the half body.
b. Video must be in landscape frame, with only 1 stationary
camera set up (no zooming, no video mixing, must be fixed).
c. Plain background during the performance. No sets and
props allowed.
d. Video must be free from any unnecessary background
noise.
9. Judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.

2. Pop Solo (male and female)

Mechanics and Rules of the Contest:

1. The contestant shall sing one straight published OPM song.


2. Adaptation from foreign compositions is not allowed.
3. Singing shall be accompanied by minus one music.
4. Delivery of each piece is for 3-7 minutes.

5. The performer shall mention the title of the song and start the
performance without cut.
6. No editing is allowed (RAW VIDEO); no vocal enhancing

3. Vocal Duet (OPM)

Mechanics and Rules of the Contest:

1. The contestant shall sing one straight published OPM song.


2. The contestants may be both males, both females, or male and
female.
3. Adaptation from foreign compositions is not allowed.
4. Singing shall be accompanied by minus one music.
5. Delivery of each piece is for 3-7 minutes.
6. Video editing is allowed but no vocal enhancement.
7. The contestants must not be physically together during the video
recording.
8. Each participant must adhere to the technical guidelines
mentioned below:
a.The video must capture the half body.
b.Video must be in landscape frame, with only 1 stationary
camera set up (no zooming, no video mixing, must be fixed).
c. Plain background during the performance. No sets and
props allowed.

4. Vocal Quartet (OPM)

Mechanics and Rules of the Contest:

1. The contestants shall sing one straight published OPM song.


2. The contestant may be all males, all females, or in mix.
3. Adaptation from foreign compositions is not allowed.
4. Singing shall be accompanied by minus one music.
5. Delivery of each piece is for 3-7 minutes.
6. Video editing is allowed but no vocal enhancement.
7. The contestants must not be physically together during the video
recording.
8. Each participant must adhere to the technical guidelines
mentioned below:
a.The video must capture the half body.
b.Video must be in landscape frame, with only 1 stationary
camera set up (no zooming, no video mixing, must be fixed).
c. Plain background during the performance. No sets and

1. Piano or electric keyboard with 88 keys in piano settings.


2. The music piece shall be one straight published Filipino music
or an original composition.
3. The performer shall announce the title and composer of the
piece.
4. The performance shall be 3-5 minutes.

7. Instrumental Solo – Violin

Mechanics and Rules of the Contest:

1. The music piece shall be one straight published Filipino music or


an original composition.
2. The performer shall announce the title and composer of the piece.
3. The contestant shall play the instrument with live piano
accompaniment. No electronic device/pitch-up shall be used. Or
without accompaniment at all.
4. The performance shall be 3-5 minutes. Time starts on the first note
produced. A total of 5 points will be deducted from the total score
of each judge if there are violation in time.
5. Each participant must adhere to the technical guidelines
mentioned below:
a. The video must capture the half body.
b. Video must be in landscape frame, with only 1 stationary
camera set up (no zooming, no video mixing, must be
fixed).
c. Plain background during the performance. No sets and
props allowed.

8. Instrumental Solo – Classical Guitar

Mechanics and Rules of the Contest:

1. The music piece shall be one straight published Filipino music or an


original composition.
2. The performer shall announce the title and composer of the piece.
3. The contestant shall play the instrument with or without
accompaniment background music. No electronic device/pitch-up shall
be used.
4. The performance shall be 3-5 minutes. Time starts on the first note
produced. A total of 5 points will be deducted from the total score of each
judge if the performer exceeds in the time limit.
5. Each participant must adhere to the technical guidelines mentioned
below:
a.The video must capture the half body.
b.Video must be in landscape frame, with only 1 stationary

9. Instrumental Solo – Banduria

Mechanics and Rules of the Contest:

1. A classical guitar (nylon string) will be used.


2. The music piece shall be one straight published Filipino music or an
original composition.
3. The performer shall announce the title and composer of the piece.
4. The contestant shall play the instrument with or without
accompaniment background music. No electronic device/pitch-up shall
be used.
5. The performance shall be 3-5 minutes. Time starts on the first note
produced. A total of 5 points will be deducted from the total score of each
