The method applies for removing the hub reduction on both front axle and bogie axles.

This operation also includes required tools and times for applicable parts of the following operations:

 Service positions
 Brake system, pressure releasing
 Wheel, removal

1. Place the machine in service position, see Service positions.

2. Depressurise the brake system, see Brake system, pressure releasing.

3. Remove the wheel, see Wheel, removal.

4. Position a suitable receptacle, with a capacity of about 30–40 litres (8–11 US gallons), under the oil plug in the
centre of the axle.
Loosen the oil plug and drain the oil.

5. Place a suitable container under the hub to collect the oil.

6. Loosen and plug the brake cooling oil hoses to the hub.
NOTE!
It is important to plug the brake cooling oil hoses, otherwise the brake cooling oil tank will be drained of all oil.

Pull the brake cooling oil hoses to the side.

7. Loosen the brake oil line at the bracket to the axle.


Loosen the brake oil line's connection to the hub and plug it.
Pull the brake oil line to the side.

8. Plug the oil connections for incoming and outgoing brake cooling oil.

9. Position a suitable receptacle with a capacity of about 10–15 litres (2.6–4.0 US gallons) under the oil plug on the
hub reduction.
Drain off the oil.

10. Remove the breather nipple.

11. Remove the leadthrough for brake oil.

12. Set up 11668014 Lifting equipment.


Secure the hub with a ratchet block in 11668014 Lifting equipment

13. Clean the hub and a little way into the axle housing.

14. Mark up the hub's position in relation to the axle.

15. Loosen and remove the bolts (x 24) that hold the end of the hub to the axle housing.

WARNING
Risk of crushing injuries

16. Pull out the end of the hub slightly. Secure the interior of the hub reduction with fabric straps or similar.

17. Remove the hub end.


NOTE!
The drive shaft may also come out when removing the hub end.

NOTE!
Pay attention to the pin so that the wear indicator does not fall out. If it does then it must be refitted in the same
location as before, i.e. under the air bleeder nipple halfway up on the hub.
