DISCUSSION

Aggregate impact value is to measure is to measure the toughness of aggregate that will be used
for road surface. The tougher the aggreagate, the more suitable it is to be used on a road surface.
Base on classification table, AIV should not be exceed above 30% as it is weak for road surfacing
and also the most suitable percentage is only from 10% - 30%. Based on the data,we get the result
for experiment 1 is also 18.80% for experiment 2 is 18% meanwhile for experiment 3 is 16.07%,
The average value for those 3 experiment is 17.42%. As we can see from the data, the classification
of aggregate impact value for the aggregate is strong as all the AIV percentage is in the average of
10% - 20%.

Aggregate Impact Value Classification

<10% Exceptionally strong
10-20% Strong
20-30% Satisfiactory for road surfacing
<35% Weak for road surfacing

CONCLUSION

From the experiment, we got the average value of aggregate impact test is 17.42%. Based on the
table classification of aggregate impact value, below 20% is strong. Aggregate physical property
must lower than 20% because is tougher and resistance to crushed. Lastly, we can conclude that the
aggregate been used are strong to be applied in construction road. These experiment are succesfull
because is still not exceed 30% for concrete used for for wearing surface such as road work or
airport.
