Regards,
Ritesh.
Civils normally purchase the cranes and there is no involvement by, and no expertise within machinery – so there is very little I or any machinery engineer can help with
here.
- There is nothing new here – AP have purchased cranes before, including for hazardous areas, so it should be routine.
- Suggest you should discuss with Civils GFO

- I don’t know what Duty Class is normally specified by AP – it is possible that it is different for warehouses and for machine houses – but I expect it is the same for all
machine houses in all projects – maintenance philosophy should be similar from project to project, they all have the same machinery.
- Suggest you should discuss with Civils GFO

– I don’t know if there are any AP imposed sub-vendors or approved sub-vendors for mechanical components (gearboxes etc.) – I doubt that AP impose sub-vendors for
such standard equipment as cranes .

- I don’t know if brass coated hook and wheels are normally required – suggest you refer to previous projects where Civils have purchased cranes.
- Maybe it is related to non-sparking requirements in hazardous area ? Do the AP specs say something on this subject ?
- There is a discussion currently about Ammonia in the site atmosphere – so brass would quickly degrade in the atmosphere if ammonia is present. I have not seen
brass-coated hooks when on site. I don’t know about the wheels.
- Suggest you should discuss with Civils GFO
