Teaching Activities [ASSURE (Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials and Require Learner Participation)]
First hour: Students listen to the English song "You're the Inspiration" after a brief talk about inspirational
figures in Turkish. Later on, children will hear their teacher speak about a role model. They'll be able to question
her in English in an attempt to figure out who she's talking about. They discuss their own inspirational figure to
their peers after listening to the teacher and ask their peers questions about their own figures. Finally, students
share how they feel about their classmates' role models and if they agree with the reasons why.
Second hour: Students observe the teacher performing 15 activities while listening to her pronounce the verbs.
They repeat both the movements and the pronunciation. Following that, students are divided into four-person
groups. Every group has two-person teams. One teammate pronounces the verb shown on the flashcard, and
the other is expected to perform the correct action to score a point. In a group of four people, the team with
the highest score after three three-minute rounds wins. In order to carry out this task, they are instructed to
open a link on Quizlet with online flashcards. After three rounds, students are asked to say aloud a sentence
about the activities their inspirational figure engages in.
Individual Learning Activities First hour: Students have to think about who their
inspirational figure is and why. They also have to decide
to agree or disagree with their deskmates’ decision of
the inspirational figure.
Second hour: Students have to follow the
demonstrations of the teacher to be able to repeat the
movement of the action verbs.

Group Learning Activities Students have to cooperate with their peers while
competing to get more points and win.

Summary
Students revise the vocabulary learnt during the first two weeks. Students learn the pronunciation and the
meaning of 15 action verbs. The revision together with the newly learnt vocabulary, students describe their
inspirational figure and learn about their peers’.

Measurement & Evaluation

CLT allows for a general observation in the classroom with special attention given to speaking activities.
Teacher does not interrupt the conversation but takes notes down to give feedback at the end of the class,
thereby, allowing her students to develop fluency as well as accuracy.
Measurement & Assessment Activities for The teacher goes around the classroom listening to the
Individual Performance individual’s conversations.

Measurement & Assessment Activities for The teacher goes around the classroom looking at the
Group Performance teams that are losing to give feedback to them at the end.

Homework (optional) No homework given as this week’s emphasis was on

speaking and revision of the previous two weeks.

Explanation
As the teacher goes around in the classroom listening to her students speak in English, she is not only able to
give feedback at the end of the class but also get a better understanding of her students’ English levels as
individuals.
Explanation regarding the implementation of the plan
During the first hour, the flow of the lesson is rendered easier by presenting the information in an organised
way by Prezi. If students struggle with vocabulary, a small side-slide in Prezi with vocabulary and their
meanings in English is also used in order not to disrupt the flow of the plan.
During the second hour, the students will be more tired. Therefore, they might be less attentive. However, the
flow is maintained by drawing the students’ attention to the demonstrations of the teacher of the activity
verbs. Students are also asked to act, too, which doesn’t allow for any attention inconveniences. Furthermore,
students are also asked to compete in groups of four, which allows them to keep engaged until the end of the
hour.
In case there is any health emergency or a learning difficulty regarding the students, only the second lesson
hour will be carried out to introduce the students into new vocabulary - since the first hour is a revision of the
previous two weeks.
