LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 8 ENGLISH

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. Identify the four (4) types of sentences and its function;
b. Construct sentences using four (4) types of sentences; and
c. Explain the importance of four (4) types of sentences through oral
recitation.

“Way to an end”
Mechanics:
 The teacher will explain the three ways to end sentences. It is the period (.), question
mark (?) and the exclamation point (!).
 Afterwards, the teacher will show sentences without a punctuation mark.
 The teacher will call a students to complete the sentence and they will choose the
correct end point for every sentences.

Presentation of Lesson and Objective

Types of sentences

Declarative Sentence – A declarative sentence makes a statement. It ends with a period (.).
Example: The boy is happy.
The people are running.

Imperative Sentence – An imperative sentence gives an order. It ends with a period (.) or
an exclamation point (!).
Example: Go to your room!
Stop.
Exclamatory Sentence – An exclamatory sentence expresses strong feelings. It ends with
an exclamation point (!).
Example: Wow! That’s great news!
Hooray!

Interrogative Sentence – An interrogative sentence asks a question. It ends with a question


mark (?)
Example: Who is your teacher?
Have you ever seen a flying fish?

A. Activity
“Why Bother”
Mechanics:
 The teacher will let the students to read the paragraph below.
 Afterwards, the teacher will let the students to reconstruct every sentence of the
paragraph using the four types of sentences to make it more interesting to read.
 They will be guided by the given criteria.

Criteria
Correctness of sentences - 20 pts
Organization of thought - 10 pts
Total 30 pts

Sample paragraph:
My favorite type of fast food is pizza. I could eat pizza morning, noon, or night. Pepperoni is
my number one choice. I also like double cheese on top. I wish I could order a pizza right
now.

B. Analysis
1. Based on your activity earlier, what types of sentences you use to reconstruct the sample
paragraph?
2. Does doing the activity help you to understand the different types of sentences? Why or
why not?

C. Abstraction
1. Describe the four types of sentences.
2. What is the importance of four (4) types of sentences in writing?

D. Application
Mechanics:
 The students will be given a task to write a paragraph about covid 19 using the four
(4) types of sentences.
 They will be given five (5) minutes to do the task.
 Afterwards, they will screenshot or picture their answer and they will send it to the
group chat.
 They will be guided by the given criteria.

Criteria
Correctness of sentences - 20 pts
Organization of thought - 10 pts
Total 30 pts
V. Evaluation
Mechanics:
 The students will determine what type of sentences are the sentence given.
 The teacher will call a student in every sentence.

VI. Assignment
Direction: Write a paragraph intitled “My Teacher, My Hero” using the four (4) types of
