AN OBSERVATION GUIDE FOR THE CLASSROOM VISIT

Name of the School Observed: Bulacan Polytechnic College

School Address: Bulihan City of Malolos, Bulacan
Date of Visit: December 1, 2021

Bulacan Polytechnic College is located in the town of Bulihan, City of Malolos, we can see
the first entrance of main bpc campus on the way and we can see the grounds is the arc of the
BPC and less than 3 minutes walk inside, the view of the new building from The BTVTED class
is very pleasant and gives us a comfortable and close to nature atmosphere because the green
paint color is suitable for the environment with green trees. Like us going further we can see
another entrance guarded by SG officials and school security, and If we have any concerns
about the destination of the facilities, custodians and SG officials are available help us.
While visiting BPC facilities, I needed an assistant from the school security guards when
they know the location. As I entered, the quorum president, teachers, and staff very sympathetic
to their students, they can be approachable and very responsive to your needs. Inspect and
observe the premises and offices, it is very clean, the air is good and friendly environment. The
school facilities are spacious and well organized, especially tools and equipment, they put it in a
safe and convenient place, easy to get teacher and student. In school offices in good condition
and fully ventilated conditional. Staff, teachers and students are very organized for their paper
work and they have a personal place where they feel comfortable doing their job. Some offices
and facilities are located on the 2nd floor such as computer room, SG office, MIS office,
registration office and Et cetera. while the science lab, basketball court, guidance counselor's
office, administrative office and etc., are located on the 1st floor but other facilities and offices
are located in other buildings.
As a result, I found that BPC's main base school promoted learning without synchronous
and synchronous has been applied to teaching. It also promotes dynamic and flexible learning
styles and adopting a student-centered approach from school known for its engineering
application.

OBSERVATION REPORT

Name of the School Observed: Bulacan Polytechnic College

Location of the School: Brgy. Bulihan, City of Malolos, Bulacan
Date of Visit: November 2021

The BSAIS classroom has a relaxed atmosphere and is good for students because of it
spacious, clean, well ventilated and organized. Every student has a self-disciple when it comes to
clean because all of them wear shoe mats before entering class. The wall of the room is painted
green and designed with educational quotes and sayings. Two ceiling fans on either side of the
room are enough for 40 students in the class. In the back, we see the flower-filled alley that
adorns the room and the bulletin board contains information such as announcements, class
rules, etc. when come? The plastic chair and wooden table are both in good condition and
comfortable to use. Only The restrooms are open to everyone as they are still under
maintenance.
Your Analysis
How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact on the learning of
the students going to school? What are your conclusions?
According to my observations and experience, having a good environment has a great
contribution to students' learning because it will help them focus on studying and avoid certain
accidents. Having enough equipment, tools in terms of facilities and classrooms will help
enthusiastically and satisfaction for learners from studying hard and discovering new knowledge
and skills related to Classes. Like my observations of BPC teachers, they have adopted a
student-centered approach for students and this gave them the opportunity to become
independent learners and confident in the ability of individuals as well as pedagogical learners.

How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development/how
does this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?
As a future educator, I transfer my knowledge of child and adolescent development to: You
need to be flexible and familiar with the uniqueness and differences. i always believe it Each
student has his own aptitude and learning ability according to the environment, Environments
and facilitators that can support learning. To make it easier to learn Consider their level of
knowledge and understanding and choose methods and strategies to: Appropriate and properly
applied.

Your Reflections
1.Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why? Why not?
-Yes, that place is very convenient for me. And I can say that school is good Approach to their
learners.

2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning?

-A school that is not destructive like loud noise, and minimal pollution and clean The campus
has the potential to be very conducive to learning and a friendly environment.

3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning?

-Classrooms must be clean, well-ventilated and well-lit, and spacious enough to activities that
allow students to move freely.

4. In the future, how can you accomplish your answer in number 3?

- I need to be organized for everything, such as classroom resources, and I need to be prepared
for each class situation. I must remember that learners' attention spans are short and I must know
how to deal with these types of behavior.
5. Write your additional learning’s and insights here.
-Always keep in mind that every learner is different in their ability to learn and do you
understand. Every child is completely different and their intelligence varied very different unlike
robots that just do what we have programmed them to do. Children tend to act on their own
because they are not machines that always do what is assigned to them.

EFFECTIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

Photo essay
The pictures above are some facilities in Bulacan Polytechnic College. All building is
painted and the color of this is green that looks pleasant to our eyes. The surrounding is clean,
with green plants and trees and spacious. Talking about the arc of the BPC this is the first
entrance when you are going to BPC. Then as you can the building of BTVTED are clean with
green tress and plants. Then before you go the second entrance you can see the clinic. Talking
about the bulletin board are posted all announcement and activities in the campus then it is near
at entrance. Next is the guidance office it has a good color and have aircon inside.

The PBC had pleasant views that bring us a comfortable vibe and nature ambiance
because of the green color paint matching the surrounding with green plants and trees. As we
walk the pathways in BPC the cleanliness and well maintain surroundings will catch our
attention. Talking about facilities the HRS laboratory well organized and sufficient equipment
including kitchen wares. It has a white paint and spacious that good for 30 students and having 6
light bulbs. Just standby the library if you have assignment or information that you needed to
your study because we can freely to access the library all the time and as we can see the library
was fully air conditioned, lots of old and new books, magazine, had 3 computers, 5 ceiling fan, 2
table for teachers staff, 6 light bulb, baggage for students things and having lots of long table
with plain white color that made of wood, yellow chairs that made of plastic and this place is free
from distraction like noises.

Some activities in school were usually held in covered court including the performance
in PE because this place had necessities for sport both side of this area had basketball ring and
the front had mini stage with 6 ceiling electric fan. It is also spacious, clean, and safe from
hazard and well maintained Therefore, a positive classroom environment, safe and secured helps
improve attention, reduce anxiety, and support emotional behavioral regulation of the students. A
factors that helps cure many school woes and encourage the student to attend class.

College Teacher: Mrs. Rosemarie Guirre

The students I observed were from BSAIS 3B. They can participate well in the facts. The
teacher assigned them similar tasks and quizzes. In some circumstances Mrs. Guirre made roll
call. When a student asks a few questions about a topic, they would answer confidently. Teacher's
questions, life examples and reliable answers from individuals experiences.

When it comes to the pandemic, all schools are using asynchronous and synchronous.
BPC Online Classroom promotes this platform where virtual classrooms are now easy to use. I
Watch how teachers give homework to students commonly seen on YouTube. and e-learning
portals. By providing some guidelines and procedures, students can watch videos on YouTube.

This type of student can correctly follow higher level classes. Interpret the topic with a
short description. I think most of them are independent Take care of themrself by absorbing the
knowledge they have gain from the teachers.

My Reflection

Each student has an environment, approach, and Facilitators, what I have observed is that
most of them can easily catch up with discussions and are willing to Participate and respond to
professors. I want their virtual classroom to be alive When it comes to information, except that
no one can stand behind their class Training materials are uploaded to the portal and freely
accessible.

Both BSAIS 3B and CS2A students were observed during my observations. Environments
were comparable. Because of their unique personalities, their classroom setting would never
become monotonous. facilitator who is full of energy Mrs, Guirre occasionally cracks them up
with a joke or a humorous circumstance.I've watched the pupils respond enthusiastically to what
they've said in their conversation. This, in my opinion, Not only the lecturer, but also the
students, benefit from this technique in order to have an educational and engaging experience.

However, some students in virtual classes do not adhere to certain decorum, particularly
when it comes to etiquette.Boys, they went to virtual class without wearing the necessary attire
on occasion, mute the microphone to avoid distracting the discussion and creating unnecessary
noise. Other pupils' backgrounds or activities can be used to distract them. Being a firm teacher
and correcting their mistakes are important. It's a fantastic idea to break their poor habits and
conduct in order to reduce their disrespectful behavior.

Your Analysis

Write the most salient developmental characteristics of the learners you observed. Based on these
characteristics, think of implications for the teacher.

Your Reflections

1. While you were observing the learners, did you recall your own experiences when you
were their age? What similarities or differences do you have with the learners you
observed?

-When I recall my experience, I think I am positive and active. It's a class meeting, but we can
proudly say it's not what we do. Our first year is respectful and obedient to our teachers.

2. Think of a teacher you cannot forget for positive or negative reasons. How did she/he
help you? With your needs (physical, emotional, social, cognitive)? How did it affect you?

-I will never forget Mrs,. Elsa Pascual. Because she taught me not just the lesson but how to be a
good student. I learned a lot from her, I have felt the love what I didn’t felt from other teacher, I
mean it affect me as a future teacxher, to be touch the heart of every student not just their mind.

3. Which is your favorite theory of development? How can this guide you as a future
teacher?
-The theory of education by John Dewey which refers the Learning by doing, this theory it
helped me a lot in my future career because in the field of teaching experiences is the best
learning that I obtain and it is also the best example to impart with my students.

Then write your observation report on the provided Space.

1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners. Note their ages.

2. How many boys are there? How many girls?

3. Focus on their behavior. Are they already able to manage their own behavior?

4. Can the learners already work independently?

5. Describe their span of attention.

While observing, I met various characters of BSAIS 3B students and CS 2A under

Mrs, Rosemarie Guirre. At this level Learners were divided into four main characteristics of
development. Physical (physical), social (Interaction with peers and classmates), emotional
(emotion) and intellectual (Thinking skill) Development. Due to this pandemic, physical
development is not applicable. Social and emotional development They were very supportive,
participatory and energetic Respond to teacher activities and share teacher experiences and
ideas vividly topic. They actively contribute to the class when discussing the topic the teacher
is listening to make a note of any useful information for the quiz. You are very grateful
Especially in their achievements, especially when they are admired. I like that feeling the most
their opinions and answers are important and valid. Intellectual development they are not
afraid of Individually ask teachers to visit websites such as Google, e-learning systems,
YouTube, etc. Where curiosity and questions can answer the examples you want to visit in the
dictionary, Google and YouTube find unfamiliar words and watch some educational videos
related to their teachings. All of them have more than one language that other students are
trying to speak english in explaining their thoughts and most of them speak where they feel
they are comfortable to use. They are interested in scholarship and skills because his / her
course is Teachvoc tie together. The number of learners I have observed from CS 2A is 32
and 38 from BSAIS3B. A total of 70 learners. Some learners have shown that they are
enthusiastic about dealing with them A classmate for a pandemic. Most of them are doing their
best to interact with their classmates They are not physically sociable for it, so they create good
relationships and impressions pandemic.

An Observation Guide for the CLASSROOM VISIT

Be guided by these questions as you do your observation of the classroom management. It is

also good to ask the teacher for additional information so you can verify your observation. Write
your notes below; and then organize table that follows.

1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teaching aids,
books,

students’ belongings, supplies, etc.?

2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room?

3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules?

4. What are the daily routines done by the teacher? (prayer, attendance, assignment
of monitors,

warm-up activities, etc.) How are they done?

5. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement?

6. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this managed?

7. If a learner is not following instructions or is off-task, what does the teacher do?
(behavior

strategies)

8. What does the teacher do to reinforce positive behaviors? (behavior strategies)

Observation notes:

There are no areas in the classroom for specific purposes. The rules are posted and all
students should follow the rules and regulation. The rules are the sole responsibilities of the
students as they are expected to follow these regulations in order for them to gain respect, unity
and obedience. Daily routines include a prayer before and after class, checking attendance, recall
the previous lesson; giving some motivation that make them energize and start the discussion.
Before the end the discussion the professor ask them feedback and clarification about the lesson
and giving them some activities and assignments. The learners follow the routine and they have
no choice and just like it participating every session. The behaviors of the learners during my
observation they are active and lively to attain the discussion and activities in virtual class. The
teacher always reminds them to follow the proper etiquettes in online class; it serves as a
guideline and a good disciplinary routine without threatening or making the students feel
embarrassed during online session. The teacher correcting undesired behavior of students
without hesitation, he would talk the students in a nice way and warned them to not expose the
bad behavior like that. To reinforce positive behaviors, the teacher’s uses praises and appreciates
to encourage the good behavior that the students show. The seating arrangement was
alphabetically according to their family name. This way the students who cannot attain the class
and who always participate in activities can easy to distinguish for the teachers. Well organized
classrooms offers the learners better learning acquisition and faster progress for mental growth
and development. Good classroom management enables favorable working conditions in
learning and makes school an effective and enjoyable place to be with.

students in control

Your Analysis
1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners’ behavior?

- The more lively and organized classroom is, the more effective the learners gain

knowledge. The classroom structure is designed to be beneficial for the learners.

2. What should the teacher have in mind when he/she designs the classroom organization

and routines? What theories and principles should you have in mind?

- The teacher always knows the basic principles in classroom management. It help us to

be aware of every actions made by the students in activities in the classroom. Always

stay alert in every situation and be able to adjust or respond positively within the class.
3. Which behavior strategies were effective in managing the behavior of the learners? In

motivating students? Why were they effective?

- Reinforcing positive behaviors and minimizing undesirable traits of the learners.

Motivation is a good strategy in supporting the students existing abilities and

interests of the learners. The teacher will find it easier to handle and use a wider

dynamics of teaching methods in this technique. If an approach doesn’t give the

desired outcome, the teacher can always try another until it becomes effective or

suitable for the learner.

Your Reflections
1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade/year level

do you see yourself? What routines and procedures would you consider for this

level? Why?

- As a future teacher I can see myself teaching in senior high and in techvoc courses.

The techvoc courses and senior high level is more suitable for me rather than in the

lower grades as this can reflect my personality and overall look as a teacher. It is

easier to deal with students at this stage because they have more experience in

learning and matured rather than in earlier grade levels. Lots of different routines

and skills that I can try and explore to handle the class. They can be disciplined

verbally and it is easier to get their attention. I observed this kind of class now

because this is where my course and major is aligned.

2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why would you

choose these rules?

- Be respectful to each other, maintain the surroundings clean, Listen to the teacher,

be kind all the time and don’t be late in the class. I chose these rules to make
each student aware of the basic do’s and don’ts common in a class. They have to

understand that it is for their own well-being and it must serve as a guiding

principle that cleanliness, respect and kind is ideal and peaceful environment.

Promoting good behaviors to your students is a huge contribution to your student

dignity and their attitude.

3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?

- Yes, the learners must be involved in making class rules because they are the

fellow students who can be aware and obey the rules. They are the students who

raised concern about the violation if they violated the rules and it will be punish

the consequences.
