Analysis and design of Longitudinal Girder:

Analysis and design of main girder involves the following procedures:


 Calculate the load from deck slab, cantilever portion, kerb, railing, parapet
 Determine the combination of live load that should be acted upon the required width of
bridge
 Calculate the maximum bending moment and shear force at the critical sections due to dead
load and live load
 Obtain the maximum value of bending moment and shear force to design the critical section
 Carry out curtailment, anchorage design and detailing of main steel bars.

70R wheeled vehicle, the load is placed symmetrically about the centre line of bridge as show in

70R track vehicle, so we assume that the total wheel load act as a point load on the single girder
