Because we wanted to accomplish something
memorable for our last SCALE activity, our team
chose this SCALE project. The frontline workers
strive tirelessly every day to help others. We'd like to
'give back love for every plate' as a way of expressing
our gratitude and appreciation. For the next five
weeks, we'll provide a variety of delectable meals as
well as heartfelt letters to let our modern heroes
know they're loved.

The Process
The steps I took to make the letters are outlined here.
STEP 1
As the editor of the letters, I
must first await the submission
of our writer's and artist's work.
Then I create my layout in such a
way that their work will be
showcased beautifully. STEP 2
Following the receiving of both
works, I open the CANVA website
and select the A4 Document to
make it printer-friendly.
STEP 3
Then I'd try experimenting with
the various tools and elements
available in CANVA until I'm
happy with the final result.

THE 5 - W E E K SCALE PROJECT.
Week 1 Output
These two are my first Canva outputs, and I
wasn't happy with how they turned out since I
was thinking about a lot of things, including how
to layout the letter so that we could use less ink
because a darker background would use up more
ink. I was similarly stumped as to where I should
put the message so that it would be easy to read,
so I just put it at the bottom of the page with all
the other elements on top. The entire output
appeared to be bland and lacking. I'll work on
this in my next letter layout.
Week 2 Output
I'm happier with this week's work than I was with
the first. I was able to use eye-pleasing colors and
emphasize key elements like the artwork and the
message. It also didn't seem too crowded and I
used fewer elements this time to make it simpler
but still stand out. In the future, I would like to be
able to achieve even more.
Week 3 Output
Because it's the first week of November, this
week's output has a touch of Halloween spirit. I'm
happy with the job I did because I was able to
integrate what I learned from looking at other
people's Canva outputs. I've also decided to stick
with the same color scheme as last week's design.
Pastel blue and soft orange colors are a good
addition to the Halloween mood. Because it's
really easy on the eyes, I chose #EAEAE6 (light
yellow) color for the background.
Week 4 Output
This output is, in my opinion, the finest one I've
created so far since it's really well-balanced, and I
appreciate how everything complements each
other. I'd also say it's the ideal letter to add to this
SCALE project because it demonstrated how I
was able to improve into this lovely letter. I'm
particularly pleased that over these four weeks of
providing home-cooked meals, we were able to
bring smiles to the faces of our dedicated
frontline workers and fill their bellies.
Week 5 Output
I let my creativity go wild when creating this last
output, opting for a scrapbook design so I could
mix and match different elements found in
Canva. I think it turned out fantastically, and I
hope the frontliners who will receive it agree. We
put our whole heart and soul into this SCALE
project, and we hope that our tasty dishes and
sincere messages were able to boost the spirits of
our hardworking frontliners.
My Reflection

SONY A T E C LAI
To be able to give back to those who have taken good care
of me and shown me kindness has always been my life
goal. I grew up going to the doctor often because I had
frequent ear infections as a result of a previous accident,
and when I was in high school, I discovered I had scoliosis.
I've always admired medical professionals and hospital
employees for being heroes and helping individuals like
me in improving our health and habits. It is because of
them that people are given more chances to live and
change their lifestyles for the better. Being able to
participate in this SCALE initiative makes me very
pleased and fulfilled since we are able to not only raise
the spirits of our frontliners with home-cooked food and
thoughtful letters, but we are also able to learn new
things and develop.
