WEEK 3/ LESSON 3

Pre - Activity:

Direction: Enumerate your activities at home.

Which activity do you think makes you work the most?

Washing the dishes.

Which activity consumes most of your power and energy?

Still washing the dishes.

How do you say so?

Because we have a lot of dishes and its so tiring to do.

II. Picture Analysis

Guide Question:

Look at the picture above.

1. Who does more work? The boy that pushing the trap stone at the
right? Or the boy pushing a stone in a smooth ground at the left.

The boy pushing the trap stone at the right.

2. When do we say that work is done in a particular action?

When the stone is moving forward.

3. How is work done in each situation?

By pushing and rolling the stones.

LIST OF WORK DONE/ EXPLANATIO

Problem solving

1. How much work is done by pushing a box with a force of

120 N across the distance of 7 meters? (use the formula:
W=Fd)

W=(f)(d)(mg)d
= (120)(9.8m2)(7)
= 8,232 Nm = 8,232 Joules

2. How much work do you do by lifting a box with a force of 50

N across a distance of 5 meters? (use the formula: W=Fd)

W= (f)(d)(mg)d
= (50)(9.8m2)(5)
= 299Nm = 299 joules

3. What is the kinetic energy (KE) of:

• Car A if it has a mass of 2000-kg with a velocity of 20 m/s2?
• Car B has 1600-kg mass with a velocity of 24 m/s2?

=1/2(2000-kg)(20m/s2)
=1/2(1000-kg)(20m/s2)
= 20,000 v

4. What is the potential energy (PE) of the box that has a mass of
3-kg with a height of 2.5 meters? (use the formula : PE-mgh)

= (3-kg)(9.8m2)(2.5)
=(29.4)(2.5)
=(73.5)
