Subject Title: Introduction to Sociology and Family Planning

Course Description:

This subject deals mainly with the manifest and latent aspects of culture aspects of culture emphasizing on social interactions and processes. In word, it focuses its attention on
studying society as a whole. For this reason, it studies a wide variety of current issues and problems relative to the concepts and sociological postulates present in the study. The aim
is to introduce into students the objectives and scientific view of the society. As a science, it makes use of sociological concepts as tools for analysis thereby conforming hypothesis,
demonstrating theories and generalizations.

Sociology 111 will analyze and explain the patterns of group life explain the fundamental structures and mechanism of human interaction, socialization process, forces and
influences responsible for the formation of a culture, values and institutions and the operation of social change. Furthermore, in the evaluation of social life as a whole, as a student,
having a “birds eye-view” of the social realities, can arrive at an understanding of himself, the society he lives in the world.

General Objectives:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. To appraise current trends based on the concepts and postulates of sociology.
2. To encourage students to objectively examine and understand the social life, and;
3. To prepare the students to a life of responsibility and active involvement

Classroom Policies
1. On Attendance: Every absence is a 3 point deduction from their attendance score. An excuse letter should be presented and should be signed by the parents/guardian. Students
with three consecutive absences will be referred to the guidance office.

2. On Class Activities: Students should have a participation in every classroom discussion and classroom activities.

3. On Cellular Phones: All cell phones should be in silent mode. Texting and receiving calls are strictly prohibited. In cases of emergencies the students are free to go out to receive
calls and respond to messages.

4. On Academic Honesty: Dishonesty includes cheating on a test, falsifying data, misrepresenting the work of others as your own and helping another student cheat or plagiarize.
