Subject Title: World History and Civilization (History of Philippine Nationalism)

No. of Units: 3 units

Course Description:

This course deals on the growth of Philippine Nationalism from the half of the 19 th century up to the present. Emphasis is given on the works of the
heroes, the birth of the Filipino nation and on the contemporary problems pertaining to nationalist’s movements, the role played by the Philippines in
Asian affairs is given importance.

General Objectives:

1. To make the students aware of their role in building a nation.

2. To develop the national consciousness among the students by studying the lives, works and writing of the heroes and heroines.
3. To acquire knowledge on the contemporary problems pertaining to nationalism movement.
4. To gain insight and appreciation on the role of the Philippines in Asian Affairs.

Classroom Policies
 1. On Uniform: Students should be on their prescribed uniform otherwise he/she will be considered absent.

2. On Attendance: Every absence is a 3 point deduction from their attendance score. An excuse letter should be presented and should be signed by
the parents/guardian. Students with three consecutive absences will be referred to the guidance office.

3. On Class Activities: Students should have a participation in every classroom discussion and classroom activities.

4. On Cellular Phones: All cell phones should be in silent mode. Texting and receiving calls are strictly prohibited. In cases of emergencies the
students are free to go out to receive calls and respond to messages.

5. On Academic Honesty: Dishonesty includes cheating on a test, falsifying data, misrepresenting the work of others as your own and helping
another student cheat or plagiarize. For complete information about the University’s policy on Academic Honesty, refer to Student Handbook.
