ETHICS

What is
Ethics?
We all acknowledge
that “a speaker who uses
language that degrades or
injures human personalities
by exaggeration,
pseudotruths, twisting of
words and name calling is
clearly acting unethically.”
Ethical communicators (Berko, 1995)
or speakers according to
Berko (1995) should:

speak with sincerity;

not knowingly expose an

audience to falsehood or half-
truths that can cause
significant harm;
not premeditatedly alter the truth;

present the truth as she or he understands it;

After Lesson Activity

For a very short and simple communication activity you will
need to find a classmate and ask them the 5w questions.
Formulate 5w questions you would like to ask your classmate
(something you might be curious about or just random who,
what, when, where and why questions). Remember not to be
invasive and be always respectful in communicating with one
another. You are given the freedom to choose whatever
platform you and your chosen classmate will use in
communicating. A sample format for submitting your work will
be given by your instructor. Have a nice time knowing one
another.
