Gamu, Isabela- To continually promote the
importance of education and to continue the Department of Education's campaign "Walang Batang Maiiwan.", On November 6, 2021, Municipal Mayor Nestor M. Uy and SK Federation Chairperson Eric John Cauilan presented the Kabaatan Tutorial Service Program in Gamu, Isabela.
Mr. Cauilan commended the effort, noting that it is
the Local Government Unit's first tutorial service program. "This is the first tutorial service in the history of our Local Government Unit given on a digital platform in compliance with the social distancing norm caused by the Covid-19 pandemic," Cauilan said. He further stated that the LGU's services will be provided in partnership with Gamu District instructors.
The tutors for this project, in addition to the teachers,
are College and Education graduates and Education students. The volunteer tutors will provide their services on Saturdays, depending on their availability.
Bonifacio P. Marquez, a Bachelor of Secondary
Education graduate, believes that this project would benefit not only the students but also the project volunteers by giving them the chance to practice the profession that they are pursuing. "The Kabataang Gamu Tutorial Service Program is a bridging tool for volunteer tutors, particularly education students, to be prepared in their future employment as educators who nurture children in order to deliver and get great education," Marquez explained.
Mayor Uy thinks that this supplementary program will
help to improve Gamu's educational quality. "In fact, this was created as a result of a series of dialogues with our Gamu district school heads in order to advocate for improving the quality of education for our children here in Gamu district," Uy stated. Mayor Uy also underlined the significance of each LGU in carrying out the DepEd's mission. "...every LGU should support the Department of Education in providing great quality education, and this is one-way Gamu Local Government Units are innovating on intervention," Uy noted. The Kabataan Tutorial Service Program seeks to improve learners' adaptability and competitiveness in the New Normal education system.
