“The Challenges We Face In This Pandemic”

We are aware that in the first half of the decade’s final year, we had
experienced and we’re still experiencing many disasters, deaths, and
diseases. As we get closer and closer to the year 2021, and since there’s only a
month left, it's really hard not to look back on the years past and reflect on how
is everything different now. Throughout this year, this coronavirus, COVID-19
pandemic is defining global health crisis of our time and this is one of the
greatest challenges we have faced since then. We don’t have any choice but
to continue living our lives with safety since we have now reached the tragic
milestone of enormous number of deaths, and the human family is suffering
under an almost intolerable burden of loss which brought up so much tears,
despair, and even chaos in the lives of many Filipinos. There are probably few
chances of living if we do not seriously practicing safety, social distancing and if
we do not stay in our home; Our lives are in our own hands this time. The way
other people handle and manage their own lives is not the same on how I
handle mine and how you handle yours. Moreover, being safe in the pandemic
adds social isolation, change in education system, disrupted work and family
routines, cabin fever and economic instability, and it is understandable that our
mental health is also suffering. But this pandemic is much more than a health
crisis, it's also an unprecedent socio-economic crisis. Stressing not only few,
but a lot of countries it touches, it has the potential to create devastating
social, economic and political effects that will leave deep and longstanding
scars. Every day, many people are losing their jobs and income, with no way
of knowing when normality will return after this pandemic. Until now, many
small island nations, heavily dependent on tourism, have some empty hotels
and deserted beaches.

Having said these points, we should be more aware of ourselves.

Everything can end tomorrow so let’s focus on what are important to us. When
all of these are over, Earth will continue to spin, and life will flow again. One
question is whether by then we will have learned our lesson. Let us be mindful of
our Earth and it will be kind to us. There is no rainbow without rain. Let’s all
remember that.
