NAME:

GRADE AND SECTION:

PERFORMANCE TASK 2.1: DESCRIBING MOTION IN TWO DIMENSIONS

OBJECTIVE: To understand the motion of a projectile as it accelerated and investigate how the angle of
projection affects the range, time, horizontal and vertical speed of the projectile.

MATERIALS: 2 Binder clips, 1 rubber band, 1 bottle cap (that will serve as the projectile), tape, scissors,
cardboard, ruler, paper

PROCEDURE:
PART 1: CONSTRUCT THE PROJECTILE LAUNCHER. (10 points)
Upload at least two pictures of you here holding your launchers.

PART 2: LAUNCHING OF THE PROJECTILE (BOTTLE CAP) (40 points)

1. Set up the projectile launcher on the ground or any flat surface.
2. Using the triangular block that you’ve made, launch the projectile three times on the same spot.
3. Record the range of the projectile from the base in centimeters using a ruler for trial 1, 2 and 3.
Record the time as well in seconds.
4. Repeat procedure 1-3 for the angles of the remaining triangular blocks.
