Act Two - Scene One By : Hajar Salman

- Polonius, the chief counselor of Denmark, enters with his servant

Reynaldo:

- This scene is considered a rest for the reader and the viewer after the last scene,
full of events from the first chapter, and at the same time it reveals to us more about
Polonius.
-: ‫ المشهد األول‬- ‫الفصل الثاني‬
: ‫ يدخل بولونيوس ال ُمستشار الرئيسي للدنمارك مع خادمه رينالدو‬-
‫ هذا المشهد يُعتبر استراحه للقارئ والمشاهد بعد المشهد األخير الدسم باألحداث من الفصل األول وفي ذات الوقت يكشف لنا عن‬-
. ‫شخصية بولونيوس اكثر‬

Polonius in his office, gives his servant Reynaldo some money and letters and asks
him to travel to Paris, where his son Leetras, who has already returned to France
for the purpose of studying. As a skilled servant, Reynaldo knows his master' s
request that his purpose is to inquire about the behavior and status of Leitras there.
ً ‫ يعطي لخادمه رينالدو بعض األموال والرسائل ويطلب منه السفر الى باريس حيث ابنه اليتراس الذي عاد مسبقا‬، ‫بولونيوس في مكتبه‬
. ‫ رينالدو كخادم ماهر يعرف طلب سيده ان الغرض منه هو األستفسار عن تصرفات ووضع اليتراس هناك‬. ‫الى فرنسا لغرض الدراسة‬

Polonius draws up a plan for his servant to carry out his mission, Polonius seems
to be not sure of his son, Eitras, as well as that he is a person who loves to know
new information and spy on the privacy, as he goes on to explain without
shortening what he wants, and this indicates that he loves to talk a lot.
‫ يبدو بولونيوس انه غير واثق من ابنه اليتراس وكذلك انه شخص يحب معرفة معلومات‬، ‫بولونيوس يرسم خطة لخادمه إلداء مهمت ِه‬
. ‫جديدة والتجسس على الخصوصيات كما انهُ يطيل في الشرح دون ان يختصر ما يريد وهذا يدل على انهُ ُمحب لكثرة التحدث‬

Reynaldo recommends that he try to meet the Danes living in France and pretend
that he knows Playtras and indirectly begin with his interest in vices such as
gambling, drinking alcohol, women and others in a professional manner of
discussion that does not reveal his intention. By this, Reynaldo will know from the
Danes who know Laetras whether or not he was really doing this.
‫يوصي رينالدو ان يحاول مقابلة الدنماركيين الساكنين في فرنسا وان يتظاهر انهُ على معرفة باليتراس ويبدأ بشكل غير مباشر بأهتمامه‬
‫ بذلك سيعرف رينالدو من‬. ‫بالقيام بالرذائل مثل المقامرة وشرب الكحول والنساء وغيرها بطريقة نقاش احترافية ال تكشف عن نيته‬
. ‫الدنيماركين الذين يعرفون اليتراس ان كان فعالً يقوم بهذه التصرفات او ال‬
It seems that Polonius is a person lover of conspiracies and secretly weaving things
in order to obtain his demand, which he is doing now by giving these matters to his
servant regarding his son. After the servant Reynaldo leaves, Polonius' daughter
Ophelia enters, terrified and afraid.
‫يبدو ان بولونيوس شخص محب للمؤامرات وحياكة األمور بالسر لنيل مطلبه وهو ما يفعله اآلن بأعطاء هذه اآلمور لخادمه بخصوص‬
. ‫ بعد خروج الخادم رينالدو تدخل اوفيليا ابنة بولونيوس وهي مرعوبة وخائفة‬. ‫ابنه‬

Her father tells Polonius that she was arranging her clothes in her room, and then
Hamlet suddenly entered the matter and aroused her horror and surprise.
Hamlet' s entry to Ophelia' s room breaks social rules, as Ophelia is an unmarried
girl, and only her family and friends are allowed into her room.
. ‫تخبر والدها بولونيوس انها كانت ترتب ثيابها في غرفتها ثم دخل عليها األمر هاملت فجأة واثار رعبها ودهشتها‬
‫دخول هاملت غرفة اوفيليا في كسر للقواعد اإلجتماعية حيث ان اوفيليا فتاة غير متزوجة وال يُسمح بدخول غرفتها عدا عائلتها‬
. ‫وصديقاتها‬

Ophelia explains to her father Hamlet' s figure, he looks like he' s just out of Hell, a
very pale face, unbuttoned shirt and no hat on, his body is shivering, looks
miserable and acting as if he' s lost his mind.
‫ وجه شاحب جداً وقميصه غير ُمغلق األزرار وال يرتدي قبعته‬، ‫ يبدو وكأنه خرج للتو من الجحيم‬، ‫تشرح اوفيليا لوالدها هيئة هاملت‬
. ‫وجسدته يرتجف ونظراته بائسة ويتصرف وكأنه فقد عقله‬

Polonius asks her if his actions stem from his madness from his love for her.
Ophelia does not confirm this and continues to talk, Hamlet approaches and grabs
her and attracts her to him, then he turns her away three times and appears on his
face sadness and disappointment, then he releases her and acts as if he is blind, but
he can infer her location, his actions indicate that he is really mad.
‫ يقترب هاملت ويمسك بها‬، ‫ اوفيليا ال تؤكد ذلك وتستمر في الحديث‬. ‫يسألها بولونيوس ان كانت تصرفاته ناتجة عن جنونه من حبه لها‬
‫ ثم يطلق سراحها ويتصرف وكأنهُ اعمى لكنه يستطيع استدالل مكانها‬، ‫ويجذبها له ثم يُبعدها ثالث مرات ويبدو على وجهه الحزن والخيبة‬
. ً‫ تصرفاته تدل على انه جُن فعال‬،

Polonius feels remorse because he doubts the sincerity of Hamlet' s feelings for his
daughter Ophelia and thinks that Avilia following his orders not to meet Hamlet
led him to madness from her parting .
‫بولونيوس يشعر بالندم ألن شك في صدق مشاعر هاملت ألبنته اوفيليا ويظن ان اتباع اوفيليا ألوامره بعدم لقاء هاملت ادى به الى‬
. ‫الجنون من فراقها‬

He suggests that his daughter go to King Claudius and the Queen and tell them
what happened so as not to make the matter worse, and Polonius finds in these
incidents an interesting adventure for him.
‫يقترح على ابنته ان يذهبا للملك كلوديوس والملكة واخبارهم بما حدث كي ال يزيد األمر سوء ويجد بولونيوس في هذه الحادثة مغامرة‬
. ُ‫ُممتعة له‬
