English for Pharmacists

A. COURSE IDENTITY

Title of the course : Bahasa Inggris untuk Apoteker

B. Course Description
Bahasa Inggris untuk Apoteker course is designed to guide students who
have sufficient knowledge about communicating with consumers or
patients in international or national hospitals or pharmacies and are able to
ask doctor's prescriptions, about drugs, and symptoms. Students will learn
that it is very important to convey how drugs work and the side effects
they cause in English. Therefore, it is important for students to learn the
classification of drugs, how drugs work, then medical-related vocabulary,
and how to pronounce them in English. This will prepare students to
become pharmacists who are ready to work in the field or in real life.

C. Purpose
After taking this course, students are expected to be able to understand the
basic concepts of communicating with consumers or patients in conveying
how drugs work, classifying drugs, memorizing medical vocabulary, and
pronouncing them correctly in English appropriately to support the
secretarial profession.
D. Course Goals
 Communicate with consumers or patients in a good and polite manner.
 Know the classification of drugs in English.
 Convey how the drug works with proper and clear pronunciation.

E. REQUIREMENTS
1. Enter class up to ten minutes before the start of the course.
2. Fill out the attendance list before the course starts.
3. Read the assigned material before coming to class.
4. Take the quiz at every meeting.
5. Complete and submit assignments on time.

F. CRITERIA USED FOR EVALUATION


1. Attendance/punctuality : 30%
2. Quizzes/homework assignments : 30%
3. Mid examination : 20%
4. Final examination : 20%
