Virtual School and Classroom Visit

1. Describe the community or neighborhood where the school is found.

When I went to CBSUA two months ago, I've observed that there are only a few people roaming around
and they only come out from their homes when they need to buy something important such as foods or
their daily needs at home. There are no barangay officials that are going around the neighbourhood but
I can see how disciplined the people are.

2. What impression do you have in these offices?

I got so much nostalgic when I had the chance to visit our school two months ago, maybe because it's
been a year now since the last time we had face to face classes, face to face classes are hard and hectic
but at least we were having fun and we got to study together, we even celebrate our small
accomplishments but now, seeing the arrangement of the offices, it makes me feel like it's really
different now and we can't go back to school as soon as possible.

3. Look at the walls of the classroom. What are the things you can observe in the
classroom?

I didn't clearly see what are posted on the walls or it there were changes but I think it's similar with the
kind of set up that mom did to her classrooms. She posted all the health protocols on the wall so that it
will noticeable to anyone who will come in and out of her room; it serves as guidelines and reminders
also to them of what they should do when they are in public places. When I was outside of CBSUA, I
noticed that there are printed guidelines and health protocols that are posted on the wall before you
enter the gate, the same with what mom posted on her wall also. But I didn't see the walls inside of the
rooms of CBSUA because the windows and doors were closed.

4. Examine how the furniture are arranged. What are the learning materials/equipment
present? How are the desks, tables and desks arranged?

The tables, chairs, furniture and desks were arranged together. They were gathered in the centre aisle of
the room.

5. Is the room well-lit and well-ventilated?

As what I've observed, the rooms are not well lit and well ventilated. since no one can come inside of
the rooms, even the students who visit the school, the rooms are still closed and secured. students only
go to CBSUA for important purposes

My Analysis
1. How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning of the
students going to school?

MODULE 1: School and Classroom Environment

Classroom design has the power to impact students' well-being and motivation, either for
better or for worse. If the classroom looks messy, the students are not likely to
participate in class because they can get distracted while school facilities improve the
quality of the study environment in the school, thus improving the quality of education. I
noticed that when the pandemic started, a lot of students are having a hard time to focus
on their studies because they are not used to environment where they listen to
discussions to their teachers online. A lot of them are saying their homes are not the
proper place where they can learn because they get distracted by the noise that are
created outside like the cars or the people passing by their house and even the people
inside their homes. This only explains that “place” matters for students’ learning.

2. How does school/classroom environment relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning

and to child and adolescent development?

A proper environment for students should be provided for them to learn. Some of them
complain that they cannot focus on their studies at home because a lot of distractions
can occur; some of them get depressed because of the new mode of learning. Seems
like all of the students prefer face to face classes than online learning because they can
participate more in the discussions, studies say that students who take part in
active learning actually learn more than they think they do.

DISCUSSION BOARD
My Reflections/Insights

1. What would you like to see in the school environment? What is your ideal school setting
or school environment?

For me, an ideal school environment embraces the idea that all students can learn and it
works up to build safe learning spaces for students. We hire teachers who are
knowledgeable, care about student learning, and adapt our instruction to meet the needs
of these young learners.

2. What kind of school or campus is conducive to learning?

A school campus is conducive to learning if it is fully fenced, if it is away from the noise
outside such as the noise produced by the cars or from construction sites and if it has
enough space for the learners to do their activities.

3. Describe a classroom that is conducive to learning?

MODULE 1: School and Classroom Environment

The ideal classroom is a positive place where a student can come to work toward
specific goals set before them in the class objectives. The teacher is to be positive,
organized, outgoing, confident, and compassionate.

A conducive classroom is a pivotal linchpin in promoting a favourable mood or

atmosphere in a classroom to ensure an effective teaching and learning process to take
place.

4. In the future, how can you accomplish your answer in number 3?

I can create a conducive classroom by putting some displays that encourages

interaction, come out with thought-provoking topics that require the students to think and
share their opinions with no prejudice.

5. At the time of pandemic, what are the adjustments made to the school/ classroom to be
responsive to the New Normal?

When school closures began in March 2020, educators had already spent months building in-
person relationships with students and their families. For many, one of the most jarring parts of
suddenly moving to an online learning environment was the inability to interact in person.
Although classrooms are closed, educators should do what they can to maintain student
relationships virtually. They would greet us students personally just as they would in the
classroom; they establish routines and create flexible deadlines

6. What are the highs and lows are of maintaining conducive and health-responsive school
and classroom environment?

Some of the common classroom challenges faced by teachers include lack of teamwork,

minimal personal time, working towards long term goals, arguments and student
excuses, etc. while a positive classroom environment helps improve attention, reduce
anxiety, and supports emotional and behavioural regulation of students. When educators
foster a positive learning culture; learners are more likely to acquire higher motivation
that leads to wonderful learning outcomes.
