Introductory Message!
Welcome to TLE 7/8 – AFA (Animal Production)!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the

Schools Division of HIMAMAYLAN CITY and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western
Visayas through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This
is developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible
adults) in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic
Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed

to guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using
the contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The TLE 7/8 – AFA (Animal Production) Activity Sheet will help you
facilitate the leaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning
Competency (MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and
learner. This will be made available to the learners with the references/links to
ease the independent learning.

For the learner:

The TLE 7/8 – AFA (Animal Production) Activity Sheet is developed to

help you continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material
provides you with meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning.
Being an active learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then
perform the activities and answer the assessments. This will be returned to your
facilitator on the agreed schedule.

Working in Team Environment

I. Learning Competency with Code

 Describe Team Role and Scope TVL_AFAAPP C9-12PWCTE-Ib-4

 Set and meet work priorities TVL_AFAAPP C9-12WTE-Ic5
 Work as a team member

II. Background Information for Learners

A team environment is important to a workplace. It is any situation that focuses
on everyone working together rather than individually, particularly in the workplace.
Whatever role you play, sometimes you will encounter situations that call for
teamwork. It is especially important to learn to work well in teams if you find a job
that focuses on a team environment. You will need to learn how to communicate well
in meetings, work together on projects, and be professional in the workplace, and in
fact, you will likely need these skills whenever you work for a job someday.

1. Describe Team Role and Scope

1.1 Identify  role and objective of the team
A team refers to a group of people who are working together toward a common
goal. An effective team means a group of individuals where each person is committed
to work towards a shared goal.
Role refers to one’s position in a team. It is how the person will act and his
function to be performed within the group.
Different individuals have different roles to play within a team. Here are five
roles of an effective team.
1. Leader. The leader provides direction, vision and motivation to the team as well as
creates guidelines for working with each other.
2. Creative Director. The Creative director provides support to the team to maintain
energy for everyone involved that is vital for achieving end results.
3. Facilitator. The facilitator helps the team to make the decision
4. Coach. The coach provides one-to-one support to each team member after training.
5. Member. The last role of an effective team member needs to participate in team
meetings and do whatever assigned to them. Members should regularly communicate
with the team leader; understand what the leader wants from you.
Scope refers to the combined objectives and requirements needed to complete a
project. It outlines the time and cost of a business project.

1
What are Team Objectives?
Team objectives are the specific actions and measurable steps your company
must take to reach a desired outcome. They give you a clear understanding of the
specific tasks or projects that need to be completed in order to get closer to the
company objective.
Objective has the word “object” in it. Objects are concrete. Because of this,
objectives can be scoped with timeframes, budgets, and tangible results. The
S.M.A.R.T. approach in developing objectives is a useful framework to help you make
sure you have defined them in the right way.
The acronym SMART stands for:
 Specific – Make your goals well-defined and clear for more effective planning
 Measurable – Criteria to measure progress in accomplishing you goal is set
 Attainable – Goal can be accomplished within a specific timeframe.
 Relevant – Objectives relate to your long-term goal and aligns with your
company’s vision.
 Time-bound — Your objectives must have a concrete deadline.

1.2 Identify team parameters, relationships, and responsibilities
What are Team Parameters?
Parameters are factors or limits which affect the way that something can be
done or made. No team can work ethically or efficiently without defined and consistent
parameters.  Parameters keep the team focused and provide a policy block that help
difficult decisions be made efficiently.  Parameters protects the team and keep its
identity strong.

Parameters to Define Success

A. Engagement - Employees who work together are more productive than those
who stay remote and work by themselves.
B. Employee’s growth - A good leader understands the potential of each team
members and enhances their skills and abilities to help them achieve the goals
they set for themselves.
C. Training - A good leader always finds time to impart knowledge to team
members. Counting how many people have achieved big things under your
leadership is a good measure to use for a good leader.
D. Fairness - A good leader strives to see team members grow and is not partial on
any count. He/she adheres to a balanced standard of justice without taking
into consideration personal feelings and inclinations.
E. Respect for others - A good leader is respected by all team members. They look
up and follow a leader not because they are scared, but because they believe in
the leader’s cause. A successful leader makes their employees feel appreciated
and treats them with respect.

Characteristics of a Good Work Relationship

1. Trust. When you trust  your team members, you should be open and honest in
your thoughts and actions.

2
2. Respect. Teams working together with mutual respect  give value on each
member’s input, and find solutions based on collective insight.
3. Self-awareness. Being responsible for the words your uttered and your actions, not
letting your emotions rule over you that would affect any person
4. Inclusion. Do not just accept but welcome diverse people and opinions.
5. Open communication. All good relationships depend in open and honest
communication. Identify individual role and responsibilities. Do active listening and
speaking to gather and convey information

Team Members' Responsibility

There are two types of responsibility within a team: Shared responsibility and
Individual responsibility.
a. Shared Responsibility – refers to responsibilities or tasks shared by the whole
team. Shared responsibility increases productivity and efficiency.
b. Individual Responsibility – refers to a specific task an individual team member
needs to perform. Everyone must take responsibility for his/her actions.
What is active listening?
Active listening is referred to responses of any person to whatever
communication received from another person in a form of feedback delivered using his
own words as a way of understanding the message.
Active listening is most often used to improve personal relationships, reduce
misunderstanding and conflicts, strengthen cooperation, and foster understanding.
What is speaking?
Speaking is a way of communicating using words uttered through the mouth.
This is one of the language skills that should be developed by any person. Speaking is
delivered either formal or informal.
Informal speaking is used in everyday dealings with friends and family members
or persons you have known well for a long time. Formal speaking happens in business
meetings or occasion in academic endeavors. This should also be the language to use
you are introduced to a person you have not been met.

2. Schedule priorities and comply them

2.1 Schedule tasks according to its priorities to achieve common goals &
objectives
Increasing performance in the workplace can be effectively maintained by
learning how to establish priorities. The are suggested ways on how to efficiently
prioritize given tasks:

1. Make a list of tasks and responsibilities needed to be done in a certain time

2. Establish due dates required for tasks to be completed
3. Assess interdependent tasks, do tasks that are needed for the completion of
other people’s tasks ahead among your priorities.
4. Consider consequences highly important tasks with extremely significant
consequences are done before tasks that have minimal consequences.
5. Remove unnecessary items from the list, concentrate on the things that are
most important.

3
6. Reassess, changing priorities should be checked constantly to readjust
things to be done

2.2 Utilize resources efficiently and effectively to manage workpriorities and
Commitments
Resources Utilization is the extent of how the company has used it possesion
including its people. Here are some of the tips in the utilization of company’s resources:

1. Solicit customer feedback. Asking what the customers need with the goal to
provide them with better service will improve your relationship with them.

2. Take stock of your resources. Assessing what the company has both internal and
external resources to better serve its customers is always necessary. The
personnel’s experiences and trainings should be reviewed to see their potentials
that have not been uncovered.

3. Assess decision made for utilization of resources and venture to consider other
options. Enforce assessment tools in the utilization of company’s resources to
further explore opportunities for improvement.

4. Resource scheduling, smoothing, and leveling. Scheduling of tasks and assigning

resources should always be a priority.

5. Track resource utilization. Serves as the compass of your enterprise in meeting

customers’ needs and its goal. A sort of performance review of how the company is
being managed.

2.3 Follow approved procedures in maintaining equipment and facilites

The main aim of early equipment maintenance revolves around maintaining top
functionality and minimizing breakdowns. Repair, replacement and servicing of tools
ensure their operational viability and prevents fluctuations in the production process.

Different Types of Equipment Maintenance

1. Planned maintenance. It refers to scheduled maintenance to cope with
equipment failures before they occur. This can be grouped into either preventive
or predictive maintenance. Preventive maintenance is a routine inspection of
equipment with smaller issues for minor repairs to be implemented to avoid bigger
problems to happen. Predictive maintenance refers to the checking or monitoring of
the assets’ condition using sensor devices to forecast the time when maintenance will
be required to prevent equipment damage.

2. Corrective maintenance.
A type of maintenance whereby nonfunctional parts of equipment is repaired to its
normal function through the process of diagnosis, repair and verification.

3. Routine maintenance.

4
Maintenance that is done regularly regardless of any problem that may occur in the
equipment. This may include cleaning and lubricating of equipment for better use.

3. Do your job as being part of the team

3.1 Start sending messages to communicate and interact with others.

Sending messages to communicate is a form of communication style that may
either be verbal, nonverbal, written or visual:
1. Verbal. The message is transferred by speaking or sign language. We use verbal
communication everyday in our work and in dealing with other people.
2. Nonverbal. A way of communicating by the use of our bodies as a form of
language. Our gestures and facial expressions may convey our message to
whom we are talking to.
3. Written. In this form of communication style, the message is sent via printed
symbols of letters and numbers that have been written. Example of this
communication style are emails, chats and all other forms of written
communication.
4. Visual. This way of sending messages through images to deliver information
such as pictures, sketches and other art forms.

3.2 Contribute complementary participation to achieve team’s objectives

Help to build cooperation among team members to active the goal of the
organization through the following:
1. Commitment and Trust. Team members should resolve to have full commitment
the vision and mission of the organization by trusting each other’s participation.
2. Open Lines of Communication. Effective teams must have open lines of
communication. Communication must be honest and flow between all team members
equally.
3. Diversity of Capabilities. In a team, each member has unique skills and
competencies to be developed in order to complement the need of the whole team.
Strengths and weaknesses of individual player should be managed to reach their
objectives
4. Adaptable to Changing Conditions. Change is uncontrollable; thus, team
members should be flexible to adapt any changing condition.
5. Confidence and Creative Freedom. Being creative is to be free from any doubt to
fail. Team members should try to do new things and be ready to handle consequences.

3.3 Submit reports following the standard operating procedures

A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is the norm approved by the company
in doing routine activities that is to be followed by all member employees.
The purpose of a SOP is to carry out the processes correctly and always in the
same manner. A SOP should be available at the place where the work is done".

What is a Work Plan?

A work plan is framework of the what the team or any person should follow in
order to meet the goals set to be accomplishe.

5
Steps in Making a Work Plan
1. Identify the Project Name, Purpose and General Timeline. These are the
main parts of the work plan to guide anyone who is tasked to accomplished it
within the given period
2. Write the introduction and background. This information will lead any
person or the supervisor of the project who is reading the work plan understand
what the context of the work plan is all about.
3. Establish Your Goals and Objectives. Your goals might sound like your
purpose, but they’re a little more specific in that they’re more long-term oriented.
Similarly, your project objectives should be measurable. It’s best to use your
SMART goals here.
4. List Your Resources. Include anything that will be necessary for you to
achieve your goals and objectives.
5. Identify any Constraints. These are some of the limitation in realizing the
goals and objectives of the plan.
6. Identify who is accountable. Accountability is essential for a good plan.
Identify who has to be answerable to a task being completed on time.
7. Write your strategy. This is the defined steps you are going to do in
maximizing your resources to reach your objectives. This is done by listing down
specific actions you need to do and creating a schedule of work to follow.
