ABSTRACT
This project is deal with the generating a new idea to produce a smart rack shoes
which can be foldable and multifunction usage. The objective of this project is to
design and fabricate the smart rack shoes. Some review has been through the
internet and domestic area about the using and what they need in a rack shoes.
Based on the research, most of the previous product is in a rigid position. Then,
there are no product which providing the space or storage for a stuff like
umbrella. Nowadays, users like to search a portable product and just buying a
product, but it can be used for many functions. In other words, the multifunction
or multipurpose product is more selected compared to the product in single
function only. In order to improve the function of the existing product, a smart
rack shoes with two functions is designed. This product offered the function to
place the shoes and hung or holds the umbrella. Therefore, the user no need to
place their umbrella under the stairs, or hung them at the wall.

CHAPTER ONE:

INTRODUCTION

1.1. Background of project

Shoe rack is a furniture which is often found by the door mat in the entryway of
houses, and serves a function to keep shoes organized. Often it is placed near a
hat shelf,a hatstand, wardrobe rail or hook rack where clothes for outdoor use
can be hanged. Some shoe racks also serve as a bench where persons may sit
while taking on their shoes.

The first modern shoe hanger was filed by the Japanese Tsuneji Matsubara in
1970 and consisted of a base with an element for placing a pair of shoes adjacent
to each other

A simple shoe rack with room for four pairs of shoes.

A well known designer of shoe racks was Gunnar Bolin from Sweden.[3] IKEA has
sold shoe racks since 1950, if not earlier.[A shoe rack is a storage unit designed for
holding shoes. Shoe racks may be free-standing to place inside a closet or may be
built into a closet organizer system. The right type of rack for you depends on the
number of shoes you have to store and where in your home you want to store
shoes.

Many people who have a large shoe collection have built-in racks in their
bedroom closets. Each rack may hold several pairs of shoes. Some shoe racks are
slanted wooden boards that have a strip running across the back to rest the heels
of the shoes on so that the shoes are displayed for easy selection.

Other types of shoe holders are white metal stackable shelves that are either part
of a closet shelving system or are a part of a free-standing rack. With the shelf
type, you can just place pairs of shoes on the shelves side by side. Some kinds of
shoe racks have curved wire loops that you place the shoes over.

A shoe rack is an alternative to shoe boxes. Clear acrylic shoe boxes that each
hold one pair of shoes can be stacked anywhere and some people prefer to use
these for shoes not worn too often. Shoe boxes may be stored up high in a closet,
while the racks are usually on the floor or at eye level to allow easy access to the
Shoe racks can be added to entryway closets to avoid the clutter of shoes in the
hallway near the front or back door of a home. Some people like to keep a small
shoe rack near doors to hold shoes worn daily and/or guest's shoes. While the
looped type can typically be only used to hold shoes, shoe shelves can be used to
store practically anything from rolls of gift wrap to children.

1.2. Aims and objectives of the project

1.3. Limitation and Scope of the project

SCOPE OF PROJECT

The scope of this focuses on the construction of wooden

wardrobe which involves any process that includes selection

of materials, carefully assembling of the materials and

mostly proper combination of these materials to produce a

standard wooden wardrobe, and also proper precaution and

measures were taken to achieve a good and quality wooden

wardrobe, and its maintenance to ensure that the wooden

wardrobe last for a long period of time.

LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT

The major limitation that is encountered in the construction

of the wooden wardrobe is:

Financial problem: this is one of the common

problems being faced in the construction of the wooden

wardrobe mostly in material purchasing and transportation.

OTHER PROBLEMS ARE:

i. Time: The difficulty encountered in trying to balance course

work, examination and project writing was not easy, so little

time was left for me to carry out this project which made it

extremely difficult to achieve much.

ii. Timber processing: this wasn’t easy because it’s

involved manual labor both in cutting and transporting it to

the workshop where it would be used for constructing the

wooden wardrobe.

iii. Manual labor: this is the actual part of the most important

thing to face or consider in any furniture construction even if

it is not furniture work. I mean in any construction field,

there must be manual labour because if there is no manual

labour construction work cannot be carved out. So the

manual labour was divided into parts that are (division of

labour), it was very difficult to face the manual labour and

our examinations due to time, because it was carried out

according to the procedures. The procedures in furniture

work and other construction work must be followed because

every steps to achieve the construction of the wooden

wardrobe appropriately.
