Professional Email
Courtesy
Courtesy and professionalism are two important aspects
to consider when emailing your boss, a hiring manager at
a company, or your mentor. Professional emails help
relay information, or ask questions in an efficient and
friendly way.
Here are some guidelines to
professional emails
● Subject Line: Provide the subject of your email in a concise,
easy to understand way
● Greeting/Conclusion: Always provide a courteous greeting
and closing to your email
● Identify your goal: A good email includes an action or
objective for the recipient. What do you need from them?
Be clear!

Questions on Slides 11 and 12

8
Why is it important to know your own
personality?
Your personality is important to understand for a number of reasons; it’s
good to know what you’re like so you can know your strengths and
understand areas that you aren’t as skilled in or don’t connect well with
you. Some people unwind after a stressful day in social gatherings, while
others prefer to recharge alone. Some go with how they feel in given
situations while others may function by methodically thinking about a
solution. None of these are wrong, but they do impact how you and
those around you respond to information or challenges.
