REFLECTION
What do you gain/realize after learning this topic?
I have learned in this topic that the technology changes our world our way of communication
and of teaching. The incorporation of the changing realities of our world’s society and the ease
of mobility of peoples of the world have become a challenge to your preparation as prospective
teacher. And I have realized that First, Teacher must have an enough skills in terms of teaching
each and different students he/she can adjust to them and also accept them from where they
came from and their own culture.
Second, is that appropriate attitudes and universal values to teach students with both time
tested as well as modern technologies in education in any place in the world.
Third, is that Education and teaching needs pupils and society able to deal with future
challenges which are both of global and local character.
Fourth, is that as a teacher we must “Think globally, act locally”, which means that great
changes start with smaller movements at a local scale. You must focus on your local
environment and your small acts will add up, slowly leading to change in school, then a
neighbourhood, then a community, a city, a state, and so on. This idea has traditionally been
associated with the environment and sustainability.
And then last is that you should be able to understand the interconnectedness of the local
community and you can be able to find the diversity of life in this world.

REFLECTION
When you become a professional teacher in the future, how can you enhance the
state of quality teachers in the Philippines?
Provide a Mentor
Great veteran teachers can provide very great insight and encouragement to an inexperienced
or struggling teacher. So if I’m one of those veteran teacher in the future, I will develop veteran
teachers who want to share best practices with other teachers. They must also build a trusting,
encouraging atmosphere in which their entire faculty communicates, collaborates, and shares
with each other.
ASSESMENT
Make a CPD Plan
1. How does this proverb relate to CPD? “A much-used plow shines; stagnant
waters sink”
If we were to use it for people who are always happy to just stay on what they think
they can only do, without accepting their other potentials for growing and developing as
an individual, this would mean that they should not. They should discontinue being
stagnant for growth because like water that starts to stink once it just stayed still,
people's growth can be hindered too. That mentality will make people hinder their own
growth, thus not giving themselves opportunity to become better, to shine brighter, and
to excel further. Also, Using a plow every so often polishes the metal thus making it
shine, whereas stagnant water stays on its place for a long time thus incubating bad
bacteria. This proverb relates to Continuing Professional Development because the
professionals still receive training even after their graduation. The training has a
corresponding number of units like subjects in school. The Continuing Professional
Development is regulated by the Professional Regulation Commission to make sure
Filipino professionals of various fields are up to par in their training and are aware of
latest developments in their professions. PRC is also responsible for board examinations
and licensing of professionals in the country.
First of all, a caterpillar at first a ugly worm, but after undergoing metamorphosis a ugly
worm becomes a beautiful butterfly, it makes a big change. Next a seed that has a
similarity to the caterpillar, a seed that seems to have nothing can bring some benefits
when it grows up at the beginning. The professional is therefore the same as the seed
and caterpillar in which he undergoes processes. Apprentice-to-professional, learner is
studying, applying what he / she has learned until he / she becomes a teacher. Teacher
is the product of being a passionate student, but there it doesn't end or stop. Teachers
need to to learn by continuing their master's and doctoral studies to become a
professional teacher. Professionals practice good self-regulation. They are polite and
respectful to the people around them. They show a high degree of emotional
intelligence, and are careful to consider the emotions and needs of others. And teachers
are the one who mold and prepare the students to become the next teacher and
student in the future. To produce more professional, professional people are meant to
passion and share knowledge.
MODULE 9
ASSESSMENT:
My Philosophy in Teaching
I believe that a Good Teacher
I believe that a good relationship between a middle or high school teacher and her
students is built on a strong foundation of mutual understanding, respect, and trust.
In order to effectively assess students’ wants and needs, the teacher must first
understand her students and where they’re coming from.
I believe that in order to foster learning in the best way possible, the teacher needs to
be enthusiastic about the material being studied, even when her students aren’t. She
needs to be the coach and cheerleader for the class, and point out the positives about
each student’s work in a sincere way, alongside constructive criticism. She must be
open to diversity and a wide range of opinions and ideas, and must set classroom
standards so that the students can respect and trust one another.
REFLECTION:
Why is necessary to have your own philosophy of education?
For us to be aware
It’s important to have one because that suggests that you are at least aware of your
approach. Everyone will have an underlying philosophical approach but many won’t
necessarily have given thought to what it is.
EXERCISE:
Q and A Why do you think teaching is the noblest profession?
Teaching is the Noblest Profession which shapes the character, ability, and future of an
individual. Teaching is the ability of the teachers to impart knowledge, skills and their
experiences to their disciples. Teachers are selfless, always ready to go to any extent to help
their students. It gives a great feel of self-satisfaction to a teacher when they see their students
achieve in life. Teaching, therefore, is considered as a means for which God uses a teacher as an
instrument to touch lives. So teaching is a profession that provides an art of living. It is not only
a duty but a moral duty. It is not a profession but a noble service to the world to create a more
beautiful and peaceful world. Another important thing about the profession of teaching is that
it enlightens both sides of the teacher as well as the student. In this noble profession not only
the students learn but the teacher also learns the lessons of life from the innocent students
also. So it is beneficial to both of the sides. Teaching is not just a job. It is more than a job. It is a
mission to carry out.
REFLECTION:
Make your own quotation related to teaching as the noblest profession.
‘Teaching is not just a job. It is huge responsibility and daily commitment you are
willing to make.’
