Music Lesson Plan 

Title: Tree Lesson “Green Grass Grows” Grade Level: K

Materials needed: 
-The book And the green grass grew all around by Alvin Schwartz

- Whiteboard/whiteboard marker

Procedure: 
A.S: Draw/introduce parts of the tree that will show what is going to be talked about in the book (grass around tree,
hole in the ground, roots, tree, limb, branch, twig, nest, egg, bird)
What are parts of a tree?
1. Read book
2. Start with ground
3. Then the hole
4. Then the roots
5. Then the tree
6. Then the limb
7. Then the branch
8. Then the twig
9. Then the nest
10. Then the bird
11. Then the feather
12. Then the bug
13. Create gestures for each part of the tree (ask for volunteer answers)
14. Build up from the first gesture to the last one until there's movement for each part of the tree song. 
15. Sing “and the green grass grows all around all around and the green grass grows all around” 

Closure:
What are parts of a tree? Where did we learn about trees? What are the parts of the tree we read/sang about?

Educational Objective:  By the end of this lesson, students will have learned . . . 
How to sing the song and parts of a tree and make movements for these parts
