SECTION A

Write your answer for Section A here.

A flood is an outpouring of water that submerges normally dry ground. It is

particularly common on Peninsular Malaysia's east coast. However, other parts of the
Malaysian peninsular, such as the west, south, and east, are not immune. Floods occurs
practically every year, notably during the heavy monsoon rains that cause flooding in the
nation from mid-December to early January. This occurrence occurred as a result of nonstop
rain, a lack of a drainage system, and a drain obstruction. In fact, there are some ways on how
authorities can aid flood victim by giving financial help for those who needed, organise
volunteers to assist affected families and a solution to prevent this such event by happening
again by making the drainage system better.

The first way is giving financial help for those who needed. Officials may provide a
moratorium loan to a flood victim. A moratorium is a temporary halt of activity until future
events warrant lifting the suspension or related issues are resolved. In Malaysia, the bank
agreed to a six-month loan moratorium for flood victims with automobile, housing, personal,
or credit card debt. They may also help financially affected folks. Each flood-affected
household head has received RM1,000 in humanitarian help. In addition to the RM1,000
monetary support, the Selangor state government has offered a RM10,000 lump-sum
settlement to the flood victims' family. Therefore, a financial assistance and a moratorium are
ways authorities may help flood victims.

The second way is to organise volunteers to assist affected families. There are several
organisations that give volunteer services. There are several organisations that give help to
flood-affected persons. In Selangor, there is SMART SELANGOR, which provides
necessities. There is also MyCARE, which is presently fundraising to support the victims
with food, needs for mothers and infants, and supplies. The assistance also alleviates the
stress on the afflicted family. Because some of those impacted are elderly and lack the energy
to clean their homes as a result of the flood. So, with the help of this volunteer, tidy the home.
It will be a boon to them. Cuci Cuci Malaysia is an organisation that would assist flood
victims by cleaning devastated regions and dwellings. Therefore, by giving voluntary service
is one of the way authorities can aid flood victim.

Effective way to keep this from happening again is to make the drainage system
better. Installing a flood warning system will allow people to get out of harm's path. Place the
system near a river or a low region where water may swiftly rise. A flood warning system is
put up to advise people when flooding is imminent. The government may also increase the
outflow. This will prevent flooding. It also slows its rise. A larger drain can handle more
water than a smaller one. This is already being done in Malaysia with excellent results.
Therefore, by making the drainage system better It can prevent flood event from happening
again.

In a nutshell there are two ways how authorities can aid flood victim and one effective
solution to prevent this flood from happen again. First way authorities can aid flood victim is
providing financial assistance to individuals in need. Next, authorities can Volunteers should
be arranged to help families impacted by the disaster and one effective solution is improved
drainage should be implemented. I hope more officials recognise how devastating a flood can
be and work together with the public to make things simpler if this happens again.
