1. SCOPE OF WORK
This Method Statement covers the nature and type of work for the testing and
commissioning of Fire Alarm System by Nesma to King Abdullah Project (KAP5).
This method statement gives guidelines contained herein so as to ensure that the job
execution complies with the requirement of the specifications and the authorities
concerned and serves the intended purpose to satisfactory level.
This procedure is to be read in conjunction with the relevant ITP, outlining the
responsibilities and the quality verification to be performed by various parties.

5. WORKFORCE:
 Construction team will ensure that manpower selected for the specified job is
well trained. Tool box talk shall be carried out before the work commences at
site to the involved workers through the supervisor and foremen in charge the
work, under the directives of in-charge engineer. The work procedure and
safety precautions should be clearly and concisely explained to the workers
in their own language so it is fully understood.
6. PRIOR ACTIVITIES TO BE COMPLETED:
 Prior to start the installation, refer to the approved design/ shop drawings related to,
the area of installations and ensure the required materials are available at site as
per approved material submittals. Any discrepancies, damage etc., found will be
notified and reported for further action.


 Check all materials delivered to site is inspected properly by QA/QC

engineer/inspector and check if it is stored properly as per manufacturer
recommendations.
 Ensure that the work area is ready and safe to start the installation of Fire Alarm
System.
 Obtain the approved design/shop drawings with the latest revision in preparation of
carrying out the works.
 Ensure that the installations of Fire Alarm is carried out in accordance with
manufacturer’s installation recommendations, requirements of applicable standards
and in accordance with the recognized institutions and specified in project
specifications to ensure that the installation complies with the requirements.
7. QUALITY ASSURANCE/CONTROL
 The QC Inspector has the full-time surveillance during the activities to ensure that all
works has done as per this method statement. Any found deficiency shall be
immediately corrected based on the procedure and specification workmanship
requirements. To check all necessary documents are prepared and approved by
Engineer.
8. PROCEDURE/ WORK METHODOLOGY:


 Check all materials delivered to site is inspected properly by QA/QC

engineer/inspector and check it is stored properly.
 Work shall be carried out by the site staff under strict supervision and guidance of
the concerned Supervisors/Foremen/ Engineers.
 Inspection Request (IR) shall be prepared and submitted by QA/QC

engineer/inspector for inspection and approval of employer representative.
 Site Engineer along with QA/QC inspector is responsible for all activities for getting
the work inspected/approved by consultant.
Installation of Fire Alarm System Components, and cables.
 Fix the fire alarm devices and evacuation speakers and devices in the designation
areas as per the approved shop drawings.
 Terminate the cables to the devices.
 Terminate the cables loop wise in the main control panel.
 Address the devices loop wise for the designated areas.
 Program the whole devices as per the addresses with location for the designated
areas.
 Install and connect all monitor and control modules for the fire related equipment
and program the same with fire interlock.


 Identify all the cables with the device addresses.
 Fire alarm connection to elevator recall system, components, HVAC dampers, and
equipment, Fire Pump control panel and BMS etc.
Testing & Commissioning of Fire Alarm System
 Check the cable continuity and loop resistance.
 Power up the main fire alarm control panel.
 Enter the project details as date and time.
 Check for any faults and clear for the same.
 Check the devices randomly in all floors by creating the alarm for the proper
functionality.
 After the above steps are followed put system in normal operation.
 The above process will be executed by the approved fire alarm supplier.
 Check the system is detecting by the fire alarm panel and that all messages appear
on the monitor.
 Check the battery charger if it is working properly.


 Check the fault message according to addressing and zoning.
 Consider system to be tested as per the approved cause and effect matrix.
Inspection:
 After completion of the installation, the same shall be raised for inspection.
 Inspection shall be carried out by the employer representatives.
