It is nice to work with the environment that is clean and organize. By following the 5S in the workplace and the proper
waste management, it is sure that one can have a productive work and one can have a neat and conducive workplace.
Another way of maintaining the organization of the workplace is about learning the 3Rs of waste management that will surely
help in the cleanliness of the working area.
Learning the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
1. Reduce – it means to cut back on the amount of trash we generate.
The concept of reducing what is produced and what us consumed is essential to the waste hierarchy. The
logic behind it is simple to understand-if there is less waste, then there is less to recycle or reuse. The process of
reducing begins with an examination of what you are using and what it is used for.
2. Reuse – it means to find new ways to use things that otherwise would have been throw out.
Learning to reuse items is essential in waste hierarchy.
3. Recycle – it means to turn something old and useless into something new and useful.
The last stage of the waste hierarchy is to recycle. To recycle something means that it will be transformed
again into a raw material that can be shaped into a new item.
Following the 3Rs in waste management, waste can be avoided, and such can be very beneficial in the environment that
we produce less trash. Reducing our trash will result to less things to reuse and less things to recycle. But it is inevitable to have
trash especially in the working area, but what matters most is that we know how to follow and apply the 3Rs in waste
management.
There are some tips to reduce waste and conserve resources. And these tips can be observed to manage waste
properly. In setting it up, there are some questions to consider as tips to follow the 3Rs.
1. Is there something else that can be used for this purpose?
2. Is this something that needs to be done?
3. Is the item a part of something that you need to do or want to do in your life?
And to further understand the 3rs in waste management, kindly watch this video clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OasbYWF4_S8
