Obtain a copy of the Site Traffic Rules regarding authorised speed limits. Stand in varying
locations for a minimum of 5 minutes and confirm through observation that the required
speed is being complied with. If the site has a speed radar gun, use this to confirm
compliance with speed limits
Obtain a copy of the Site Traffic Rules regarding traffic signs and road rules for the operating
area. Stand at a location for a minimum of 5 minutes and confirm all vehicles comply with
road signs.
Obtain a copy of the Site Traffic Rules regarding positive communication. Stand in a location
where there is a potential for vehicle / vehicle interaction and listen to the radio
communication for a minimum period of 5 minutes. Confirm that the correct positive
communication protocols are being adhered to.
Obtain a copy of the Site Traffic Rules regarding safe vehicle separation distances. Stand in a
location where there is a potential for vehicle / vehicle interaction and visually confirm safe
separation distances are being maintained.
Obtain a copy of the Site Traffic Rules regarding vehicle parking. Observed any vehicles
parked and confirm that they comply with the rules eg. Reverse parked, using approved park
up areas, keys removed, chocks applied if applicable etc.
Obtain a copy of the Site Traffic Rules regarding pedestrian rules. Observe any pedestrians
moving to/from parking and other areas and confirm that they are complying with site rules
eg. Walking on approve access paths etc
Work as Intended - Support Material / Guidance
Speak with the driver and ask to look at the driving licence. Confirm that the driver is
authorised to drive this type of vehicle and in the part of the mine. LMS (or equivalent may
need to be checked).
Obtain a copy of the MMG Vehicles and Mobile Equipment Standards. Perform a check
against key standards that are able to be performed at that location and through visual
inspection only. Confirm compliance. Also conform that the vehicle /equipment is
authorised for use within the mine. Check the Vehicle against the Authorised Vehicle register
Review the pre-start log book for the vehicle. Confirm that a pre-start was conducted at the
start of the shift and that no defects were identified that should remove the vehicle from
service.

complies with the common Traffic Management Plan template, has the correct
endorsements and approvals and is located in the MMG Library
Discuss with the Technical Services group as to whether there have been any changes to
mine roads over the past period. Confirm that the changes comply with the endorsements
and approvals as outlined in the Traffic Management Plan.
