Boondh is a hybrid social enterprise working on improving menstrual literacy and access
to affordable sustainable and reusable menstrual products. The program design that
Boondh offers, specifically for menstruator’s from low income communities, contains
19 interconnected stand-alone components over a span of 12-24 hours, preferably
conducted in cohorts of 80 or lesser, sometimes facilitated in mixed gender groups, in
order to help improve knowledge, attitudes and behavior surrounding menstruation, in
turn potentially contributing to positive gender and public health outcomes. The
module adheres to the principle of encouraging rational and scientific discussion,
challenging existing myths and taboos, yet allowing a safe space for everyone to
articulate and continue to practice strongly held beliefs, or discovering the language to
negotiate boundaries in their own socio-cultural contexts. The module aims to provide
information on all types of menstrual products available products, hoping to allow for
participants to be able to make informed choices and exercise their agency to choose
the product most suitable to their lifestyles, based on their understanding, and in some
context’s augmented with market support to reusable products.
