B. Directions: Read the following poems that contain CVC words through echo and choral
reading. Invite your family members to join you in oral reading. Observe correct volume,

The words dad, pet, cat, mom, ran, fun and his are example of words that has
a short vowel sound.
The word dad has a medial short vowel sound a, pet has a medial short vowel
sound e, his has a medial short vowel sound i, mom has a medial short vowel
sound o and fun has a medial short vowel sound u.
CVC words are three-letter words that follow a consonant, vowel, and
consonant pattern. The CVC words have short vowel sounds.
The short vowel sound refers to the sounds that correspond to the vowels a, e, i,
o, and u.
C. Directions: Arrange the jumbled letters to form a word that is described by
each picture. Read the words aloud and write your answer on the blank.

Sight words are also called high frequency words because they appear regularly in your
reading and writing. These are commonly used words that young children like you should
learn and remember. Because of their high
frequency, you should be able to recognize, read, and understand them immediately upon
seeing them (Ravitch,2007) Through familiarization of sight words, you can confidently read
a sentence or a paragraph. Other terms used to describe sight words include service words
and instant words because you can recognize them instantly. They are also called snap words.
These are words that students will see most often in their reading.
