Assessment Task: Invasion Games – Understanding the Thematic

TASK DESCRIPTION
Through participation and engagement in our unit on Invasion Games, students will aim to reflect on moving our body,
understanding movement and learning through movement. You will answer questions, reflecting on your performance in our
practical lessons focusing on the skills and strategies of Striking and Fielding Games.

ESSENTIAL VOCABULARY
We expect students to understand the following vocabulary:
· Strategies: a plan of action designed to achieve a long-term or overall aim.
· Outline: A summary of key points.
· Explain: Give a detailed account including reasons or causes.
· Reflect: To think deeply and carefully.
· Analyse: Break down in order to bring out the essential elements or structure. (To identify parts and relationships,
and to interpret information to reach conclusions.)
· Evaluate: Make a ‘judgement’ by weighing up the strengths and limitations.
· Design: Produce a plan, simulation or model.

ASSESSMENT

Questions:
1. What similarities do you notice other sports have after participating in a variety of Invasion Games, think about
strategies, tactics etc. (for example soccer, netball, AFL, Basketball, European handball)

2. Provide an example of when you as an individual have been successful in game play and explain why.

3. Reflect on the importance of communication and teamwork in the Invasion Games unit. Identify an example used in
practical lessons to support your thinking.

4. Provide an example of when your team worked well together in game play and explain what factors allowed your
team to be successful.

5. What would be some advice/coaching tips you would use to assist a beginner to understand Invasion Games?

6. Explain some strategies you have learnt in your practical lessons. How can these strategies be used in other sports
or activities? Provide an example.

7. What attributes does a strong performing player possess when playing Invasion Games, what do they do that makes
them successful.
